Sunggyu’s slumped on the couch and he’s thinking it’s wrong how wrong it is, this love-hate relationship he has with Woohyun. He glares at the closed door, daring it to open and reveal the person he knows is standing right outside.

“Sunggyu, open the fucking door! Stop fucking acting like this! Open the goddamn door!” Woohyun yells outside, ramming his shoulder against the locked door in an attempt to break it open, a bright red mark visible on his face. When this only ends in a bruised shoulder, Woohyun shouts in frustration, taking his anger out on the door by kicking it.

“What the fuck is wrong with you!” Woohyun hisses, eyes bright with rage, “What the fuck! You think you can just punch me in the face and run away!? You think I’ll just let you walk away like that!?”

Sunggyu closes his eyes and tries to drown out the words that are dripping with poison, poison that’s burning up his heart, sending waves of fire through his veins, slowly killing him from the inside.

Sunggyu promises himself that he won’t fall for Woohyun’s black lies, that he won’t give in to the cruel words, but he knows it’s hopeless. A cold tear slides down his cheek, but the expressionless gaze is soon back in place as if that single drop of sadness had never escaped in the first place.

Just gonna stand there and watch me burn.

He’s drowning and there’s no one there to save him, no one to reach out and drag him back to the surface. A loud thud outside brings his attention back to his predicament and he opens his eyes to take in the empty and lifeless room.

“Shut the fuck up.” Sunggyu whispers, his voice deadly quiet, “Just fucking stop lying to me, Nam Woohyun.” He knows that his face is expressionless; masking the feelings of isolation, hatred, jealousy and anxiety. It’s frightening because the nothingness is the heaviest of all, pulling him under in a spiral of despair. And it hurts.

And as sadistic as it sounds, Sunggyu revels in the pain. Because it’s proof, proof that whatever it is that he has with Woohyun, it’s real. As real as the air he’s breathing and as real as the cold sunlight washing through the window. It’s real.

Sunggyu snaps his head around, when a crash echoes through the room and he freezes, because Woohyun is standing in the doorframe, Woohyun is standing there with his eyes glowering with rage.

When Woohyun slaps him, Sunggyu reflects that he likes the pain that Woohyun brings because it’s all that’s keeping him afloat, pushing through each day, one after another. When Woohyun slams him against the wall, Sunggyu thinks that Woohyun’s like a drug - a drug he can never escape from, a drug that he has no desire to give up.

But that’s alright because I like the way it hurts.

When Woohyun crashes his lips violently against him, Sunggyu supposes that maybe he’s the one with a sick and twisted mind because he’s responding to Woohyun’s painful kisses, drowning in the pain-filled bliss it brings.

And when Woohyun fucks Sunggyu against the wall, so hard that his insides are tearing up and bleeding, Sunggyu screams back and fights, raking deep scratches into Woohyun’s bare back, until they’re both bleeding and surrounded by broken furniture and glass. Woohyun’s breathing heavily now and Sunggyu is whimpering in pain, bruises and blood smeared along his lower half, as Woohyun gently carries him over to the bed, whispering words of apology. They’re so fucked up and they know it.

They kiss passionately in bed, anger melding into fiery sex and passion, as Woohyun fucks Sunggyu again, despite his in juries, both of them gasping in pain and choking for air, as they move rhythmatically against one another, seeking comfort in the heat that they bring to each other, comfort from the cruel world and venomous words that lies outside their door.

When they’re lying in the cold silk sheets, entangled and wrapped in each other seeking warmth, the tears start to fall. Sunggyu curls into a small huddle, his back pressed against Woohyun’s chest, and he wonders whether Woohyun has ever felt this way. Whether he’s ever loved somebody so much he can hardly breathe and whether he’s ever loved somebody too much to walk away. He’s trying to hold back the hopeless sobs and the trembling in his hands, but his heart is so constricted it feels like he’s slowly suffocating to death, and the cold tears continue to fall silently, streaking down his pale cheeks.

Just gonna stand there and hear me cry.

Woohyun knows that Sunggyu’s crying, and he tightens his embrace around Sunggyu’s slender waist, wrapping his strong arms around the broken boy laying next to him.

“Are you crying?” he whispers, and Sunggyu shakes his head, but Woohyun knows he’s lying. Just like him. He flips Sunggyu around so that they’re facing each other, and Woohyun feels a searing pain in his heart when he sees the tearful eyes and the tear stained cheeks. He gently reaches out to brush the tears away with his thumb, frowning when he traces the edges of the dark bruise on Sunggyu’s cheek.

Sunggyu turns his head away, and buries his head in the crook of Woohyun’s neck, his soft hair tickling Woohyun’s neck, as the choked sobs and the desperate gasps shake his body violently, his trembling hands curled against Woohyun’s chest.

“I’m sorry, it won’t happen again,” Woohyun murmurs, as he tightens his grip around Sunggyu, entwining one hand into the soft strands of caramel hair, his other arm wrapped tightly around Sunggyu’s slim waist, as he draws the other boy deeper into his embrace. He trails his fingers up Sunggyu’s spine, and rubs his back comfortingly, stroking his hair, as he whispered words of apology and comfort, until Sunggyu finally cries himself to sleep in Woohyun’s arms, exhausted and hurt from his inescapable relationship with Woohyun.

“Baby, I’m sorry,” Woohyun breathes, as he presses a soft kiss to Sunggyu’s lips,

But that’s alright because I love the way you lie.

“I love you.” Woohyun whispers.

I love the way you lie.
