The voice and the underlying music was getting clearer with each step closer and already Woohyun could feel himself surrounded by that voice. That voice which was starting to burn in his ears with vibrant and unearthly power and unrestrained danger.

Please stay here, I’m asking you a favor, I’ll treat you better, I can’t let you go yet

How was this possible? How was this reality? No one could have a voice like that. No one humanly possible could sing like that. Woohyu shuddered as that voice crept down his back, sending shivers of elation and bliss down his spine, and through his waking memory. There were simply no words to describe how mind-shatteringly beautiful that voice was.
Woohyun closed his eyes and just…just listened.

And as Woohyun stepped into the room, he could see the hurricane of emotions reflected in Sunggyu’s expression, his teary eyes like a window into his soul, as he drowned in that sweet velvety-soft voice and that tear-soaked, hauntingly dark gaze of his. He knew. He could understand. He could see all that was hurting Sunggyu and each frozen tear that rolled down that pale icy cheek was like a stab in Woohyun’s heart. Woohyun couldn’t stand it. He couldn’t stand seeing those tears falling so freely and spilling over those pale cheeks. To hell with all his thoughts. He couldn’t stop thinking about Sunggyu. He wanted to extend his arms and envelop Sunggyu in his embrace and whisper that he was safe now. He wanted so badly to protect the crying boy in front of him, he wanted to shield him from his own terrifying memories.
“Sunggyu...”whispered Woohyun softly.
No response. Sunggyu continued to stare depressingly ahead, his face torn in grief as his hands shivered with fear.
He couldn’t explain the mysterious ache in his heart, he didn’t know why he felt so distressed when he saw Sunggyu cry. He couldn’t explain it and it frustrated him. He only knew that he couldn’t just stand by and watch Sunggyu suffer in silence and in so much pain. He couldn’t let him cry alone by himself.
“Sunggyu.” Called Woohyun, a little louder this time.
Sunggyu’s head snapped up as his eyes registered the stranger in the same room as him. He stared at Woohyun, shocked for a second and then hastily reached up to wipe the tears away from his face.
“W-what do you want? Why are you here? W-what are you doing here?” he asked wildly, moving away from Woohyun, like he was afraid of him, like he was afraid Woohyun would rip apart his wounds even further.
“Why…why were you crying?”
“I…I…No…I w-wasn’t…I wasn’t crying…”
And even as Sunggyu lied in an attempt to cover up his tear stained face, Woohyun could still see. He could still see how pale Sunggyu’s face was, how red and swollen his eyes were from crying and he could still see the tears spilling down, even though they were long gone.
“I-I’m fine, I’m ok..”
“I swear…I-I wasn’t crying…”whsipered Sunggyu again, as if trying to convince himself, as if though he needed reassurance that he really was ok, “I-I’m fine…I’ll be ok….”
“I-I’m ok…right?”
And as Sunggyu asked that question, the tears threatened to spill out again, because deep down Sunggyu knew that he was not ok, and that it was not fine and that yes indeed, he had been crying by himself.
He couldn’t stand there anymore. Woohyun stepped forward impulsively towards Sunggyu. He walked up to Sunggyu who was standing frozen to the spot, and he wrapped his arms around him, securing him in his embrace as he whispered to him…
“It’s ok to cry. You can cry.
I won’t say anything. You don’t have to explain.
Just don’t hold all this pain inside yourself. Don’t cry by yourself...”
