okay, the last one was really weird...
but I do have to admit that from the point ogf view of an outsider, you did sound a bit like you were trying too hard to sell a wetsuit.... but it's just about your choice of words, in my humble opinion.

I think I go too much into the details. I, personally, like to know what I'm paying for so I go on about the various types of neoprene and seams, when I think most people just want me to say "Here, this is what you want."

I can totally understand that, and I like that attitude...
but maybe you should have just asked which suit he'd want (summer or winter) and if he asks for details offer them?

It's not really a matter of what they prefer though. There's little price difference between summer and winter suits, so we generally have to explain the difference between them and why you'd need one over the other. A lot of people would prefer a summer suit, to save the 20 quid, but if you're too cold to do anything, it's 20 quid wasted!

Though, yeah, I normally phrase my lead in questions differently!
