I just ate a Plumcot.
It is a cross between a plum and an apricot.
WHAT HAS THIS WORLD COME TO?

TELL ME ABOUT IT. Last time I checked, those things were called "pluots." I FEEL LIKE I AM TAKING CRAZY PILLS.

That's the best part - my coworker had a pluot, and she kept saying it should be called a plumcot. So I was intrigued, and went down to purchase my own, and came up with the same fruit, labelled a plumcot.
apparently manufactured in the US by...wait for it...

AHA! Turns out that "pluot" is a trade name, like Kleenex. "Plumcot" is the generic name of the hybrid fruit. Curiously, the same (genetics) organization that has trademarked "pluot" (and the specific genetic combination that produces it) has also trademarked "aprium" -- a slightly different combo of plum and apricot genetical soup. And also? PEACOTUM.

SCIENCE!

It was kind of like a sweet plum...but I think I was so alarmed by WHAT I was eating I was barely focused on the enjoyment factor :)

I totally love pluots. Which is weird, because I am not so much a fan of genetically-modified food usually. But they're so delicious!
