Electionizing

So, I finally started my ballot reviewing last night. I always go through a few days before an election and fuss through the various and obscure items to make sure I'm at least moderately informed on everything ( Read more... )

Wow, Andy, you certainly are thorough. I assume your mind will be
made up before you close that curtain. I've found that when there's
a long ballot, too many voters wait until they get into the voting
vooth and THEN try to decide who or what to vote for. This means
long lines, especially in the evening when people vote on their way
home from work. Our ballot here in Philly is relatively short. Flo
and I always go early to our booth which is actually a half-block
away. I'm allowed to go into the booth with Flo because of her
failing eyesight.
Yeah, we'll all be watching those gay issue states, especially
California. I'm optimistic about the outcomes but I'm not a fool.
The JEEsus people will vote like lemmings to deny some citizens their
right to marry. Sad.

You outright say who you're voting for in every slot except for President. Trying to avoid political banter in your post? lol

Well,to be honest, there is a very tiny but non-negligible chance I could change my Presidential vote. I have waffled greatly on this, as there are significant problems with both candidates IMO....I've liked McCain for a very long time, and have always said that he's one of the few Republicans I could see myself voting for, however he's clearly taken a turn to the right on some issues that I'm not appreciating.....

On the other hand, I was never impressed with the whole "Change" message from Obama and always have thought it's a catchy BS line. He's not exactly a savior for gay rights, even though clearly superior to McCain. I have concerns about aspects of his economic plan, especially the chance that he could even grow the deficit further....but my one professor believes that he'll do good for the economy, so I'm trying to sort that one out still.

So, I'm not 100% on President but I'm nearly there....

I'm not 100 percent for Obama either, and at one time I might have voted for that other guy. But given that McC has in the last few
weeks gone into the toilet (I keep thinking "Trainspotters") and tried to take us with him, I mean, hinting not so subtly that Barack just may be a stealth terrorist, I find it easy to vote for Obama. I think he's smart enough to appoint a cabinet, advisors and judges who will take us in the new direction we so desperately need. I saw on the news Bush walking alone across the White House lawn and waving. I
tried to feel sorry for him but couldn't, even with my good heart :)
I have nothing but contempt for this loser. And don't get me started
on Sarah. She is, as one R called her, a "joke" like Harriet Meyers.
Well, she could always get a job on SNL!

I'm finally catching up on Eljay... insightful. And good lucks to the iniatives in your state, except for the casino one (i say boo on casinos - leave that to Nevada) and kudos to your state for attempting to cap payday lending. That's such a horrible cycle to get caught into and the interest rates are obscene.
