ABDC Season 4 Episode 3-"Perhaps the Bar was Set too High?"

I skipped out on Episode 2 because it didn't feel it was a stellar episode but this week it was just really poor.  During Sunday's episode, the best two performances were sadly the pair that were put into the elimination round because of how people voted from last week and sadly enough, those two groups happened to be pretty strong the week before ( Read more... )

As a martial artist, I really enjoyed this episode. Many of the dances really evoked the style they were trying to emulate, with the exceptions of the Capoeira group and the TERRIBLE Tiger-style Kung Fu group. The Karate group was the strongest.

Sorry, I don't know their names, I don't normally watch this show!

Yeah but if we're talking about an exclusively martial arts show then perhaps it wouldn't have felt as cliched as it did when many of the crews thought the same idea of having them pair off and do "mini-martial arts" moves on each other but given that this was a dance competition and there have been so many incredibly amazing crews in the past that incorporated martial arts flawlessly into their routine without it appearing forced, this almost makes many of the routines this past week, except Southern Movement and Rhythm City's routines, not only disappointing but also uninspiring to the field that they could not create a compelling dance routine that didn't resort to just an elaborate staged mock fight that you would see in a children's martial arts show competition ( ... )
