I sometimes wish I could help out in my infinitesimally small fandom. My only problem is I'm too much attached to canon to allow others so-called "creativity" when they design their own fanon. They being other fans

Yeah, I'd say you're justified. In a similar case on my part, I like one particular season of a show that was kind of unpopular to the rest of it's fandom. There are a few other fans, but said fans have their own little fanon thing that's stuffed to the brim with Mary Sues OCs that I don't give a shit about, and focuses on a canon character that I didn't really care for. If I want anything about the characters I like, I have to write it myself, it's annoying as hell.
But yeah, if fandom stuff is not marked as AU, it should at least attempt to follow the canon!
Oh gosh, yes. When I actually got the balls to write, it was "XR this", "Romance that". It was so bloody annoying that I just had to write something with MY favourite character.
Although, during the first fan generation, I also wanted to write really badly because I didn't like what the old fans were doing with, well, everything.
It was kind of bad...and you know what I mean. XD
But anyway, thanks for agreeing. I'm afraid you're one of the old fans who had any brains left...
I like creativity. Creativity is good. But raping the canon is not good. The boundaries, as you say, are there for a reason but do they pay attention to them? No! They write their crappy fic with their crappy OCs and with their crappy plot without having even seen all the fucking episodes! And then have the gall to be superior! /rantrantrantrantrant
I guess, in the end, it's all about personal taste. Some fans will go for the thing that doesn't even sound like the original any more while others will stay true to the source. It all depends on which way someone swings--and no, I don't mean it like that, get your mind out of the gutter. Even though I wish we weren't halved like that as a fandom.
And you're no white knight. You're a flamboyantly purple knight! :>
Arrghghghghghg, why our fandom? I've been in it for ten years--TEN YEARS--and it just can't give me a break! There were the old fans, then the XRboards, and now this! Redonkulous.
Is it so hard to ask for canon? Sure, I'm not true to the target, but I try to get darned close! I could put my views and stick them nilly-willy, but I don't because it's not canon. Why can't people separate them from the show?
Also, there's a reply to the review. It's not going anywhere, I can tell you that. I was going to make a reply, but I just can't. I'm done.
Done.
I'm just going to write one-shots, finish the fics, and avoid all contact with that place. Well, I'm still thinking about doing that, to be honest. Maybe I will, and maybe I won't.

But I am very much weary of it all.
