Doesn't Texas law say your legal husband is the father unless you do lots of paperwork? Do you have any trusted person who can temporarily marry you or something..? Save all this evidence, in case you need it. I had no idea how old he was..call me ageist but there seems huge difference between a dumb, naive 20something who doesn't step up and a 40something who should damn well know better by then.

Apparently Texas goes off of the birth certificate. Like, the hospital staff will wait til the husband is out of the room to speak to the mother and ask who she wants listed as the father. If I don't have anyone on the birth certificate, I have to explain why. Also, if I give the child my last name and then file for child support- I have to explain why. Like I feel it'd be easier if I didn't know who it was. Knowing and having him be a complete douche is complicating matters ( ... )
