[ Background/History ]
For many generations, over a thousand years, a war has been raging in Japan. This war is between the Giou clan, humans granted special abilities by God, and the Duras, demons from another realm. One member of the Giou clan in particular, a woman named Yuki, held the power of “The Light of God,” and was protected by the Zweilt Guardians, other members of the Giou clan who served with her as their master. The Zweilts worked as partners, their abilities complimenting the other’s; one offensive, and one defensive.

Toko is one of these Zweilts, who had the honor of being close to Yuki in their past lives, even so close as to bathe together. Toko also had a man whom she was attracted to, and whom she became lovers with.

But that was a past life.

In the modern day, Toko has been reborn, and her memories of the past restored to her. Her partner is her younger brother, Tsukumo, whom she cares for deeply and has been very close to. She fights with a greatsword called Eon, while he with a gun called Knell. When the two reached high school, they were tasked by Takashiro, the head of the Giou clan, to a very important duty; guarding Yuki’s reborn form, whose powers were soon to awaken.

Toko and Tsukumo first met Yuki (who was reborn as male this time) as he defended a salaryman from some punks, where Toko cautioned him that he shouldn’t be so kind and trusting to everyone. Over the next few days, they shared guardian duty with Zess, a Duras working with the Giou clan, until the night of April 30th; Walpurgis Night.

On Walpurgis Night, the boundaries between the human world and the realm of the Duras is weakened, and it was on that night that Yuki was most vulnerable. When Yuki disappeared, Toko, Tsukumo, and Zess split up, all searching in different directions. When Tsukumo, using his “Ears of God” ability, found Yuki, Toko cautioned him to wait, because Zweilts are meant to work in pairs, and without her, his ability to protect Yuki would be limited. The boy ignored her caution, knowing that she would not make it there in time, and gravely injured himself protecting Yuki. When Toko (and Zess) were able to make it there, Toko guarded her brother, while Zess fought the Duras. When it appeared that the human the Mid-Villain level Duras (a friend of Yuki’s) would be killed, Yuki’s powers fully awakened, and Tsukumo was healed enough to knock the Duras out of Yuki’s friend, and Zess finished him off.

When Yuki moved into the Twilight Mansion with the other Zweilts, Toko greeted him with open arms, and helped him settle in. She felt bad, not being able to tell him about the past, and having to hide things from him, but she had to believe in Takashiro, as he was the only one with all of the memories of all of the past lives.

Canon Update
Toko returned home for a bit, and was gifted with a cross pendant by Yuki, that he'd made into an amulet. They also received a mission involving missing boys and comatose girls, that seems to be the work of an Opast.

[ Personality ]
On the outside, Toko appears to be the same as any other 2nd-year high school student. She’s cheerful, outgoing, and close to her younger brother. Perhaps a bit too close, if you ask Tsukumo’s fangirls. She can be quite talkative, perhaps to make up for Tsukumo’s quietness. She loves shopping, and gets embarrassed by seeing a guy shirtless. Toko enjoys making friends with people, and is hurt when someone she tries to make friends with gives her the cold shoulder.

But that’s on the outside.

Toko’s a complex girl, most likely due to events of her past lives. Because she lives her life fighting, she’s very strong, and not just physically. Possibly due in part to being the only female Zweilt actively protecting Yuki, and possibly due in part to her need to protect those around her, Toko is very strong-willed. She hates to show weakness around the others, because she doesn’t want to be seen as weak.

Because of her growing up around guys, she’s got a bit of an attitude. Alright, maybe more than a bit of attitude. She’s constantly butting heads with Hotsuma, who is hot-headed himself. She accuses him of not knowing the meaning of the word “delicate”, and he accuses her of not knowing the word “ladylike.” Unless there’s something to distract them, they will usually fight if they’re in the same room.

Toko also has a playful side, especially when it comes to teasing the boys. She’s not afraid of Luka (Zess), and hangs on Yuki as much as she can, just to annoy him. Or she’ll run and hide behind Tsukumo when Hotsuma walks around shirtless, claiming that he made it so that she can’t be taken as a wife (Tsukumo, for his part, assumes his sister is correct).

Toko’s ‘toughness’ isn’t to say she doesn’t get emotional, though. She cries when she’s upset, especially if it’s something involving her brother or Yuki. Even just the idea that, by not telling Yuki that Takashiro wasn’t his brother, they were lying to him and that he might not forgive them, she began to cry. Usually, however, she tries not to break down in front of the other Zweilts. Even when Tsukumo was gravely injured, she tried to pass herself off as fine in front of the others. It was only when Luka reminded her that he wasn’t “one of them” that she allowed herself to cry, but even then, it was to his back, so he wouldn’t see her.

Toko’s biggest issues are with attachments. The person she is closest and most devoted to is her brother, Tsukumo. He is the single most important thing in her life, more than just family or her partner. She’s a very physical, touchy person, and often hangs on her brother, or even sleeps in the same bed with him. She often makes promises with her brother, so that even if they’re apart, she knows he’ll come back to her, because he made a promise. She’ll also tell him things she wouldn’t admit in front of anyone else, such as her worries over Yuki being involved in the fighting.

There are only two other people that Toko allows herself to really get close to. One is Yuki, whom she insists call her “Toko-chan”, that she loves and wishes to protect. As a Zweilt, she’d do anything for him, and is emotionally bound to him. If it came down to it, though, between protecting her brother or protecting Yuki, she’d be severely torn, but she’d still protect Yuki first. The other is Luka, whom looks like her lover in her past life. Before Yuki came to the Twilight Mansion, Luka was cold and distant with the Zweilts, but now that Yuki’s there, he’s opened up a bit, and Toko cares for him as well.

[ Specialties and Abilities ]
Toko has the "Ears of God" ability, although how she is able to use it is unknown.

Toko's main ability is her sword, Eon, which she summons from the ring she wears on her left pointer finger. Eon is a large greatsword, which she usually wields with both hands.
