So ... yeah. About that. 2? Really? Okay. I can live with that. Especially since I believed from the get go that they would slaughter it.

On the one hand, I don't like it. The book flows so well that I can't see an obvious place to cut it in half. I mean, a lot of the first half is Harry and crew traveling around in that tent being miserable. And while that is very emotionally relevant, it's going to be tough to have such a complete downer first half put into one film.

On the other hand, I do understand why they want to do it...unlike the other books.films, there really isn't much you could possibly cut from this one and still make it honest to the book. Everything in this one is so crucial. So sure, putting it into one film is probably impossible without completely ruining it.

Also, I do like the idea of getting to see Daniel Radcliffe and those Phelps twins for one more film. So cute. Even Rupert. They're all adorable. Thankfully the movies will be released Nov. 2010 and May 2011 (or something like that) so they won't be a whole year apart.

I'm actually arguing with my Computer Science friends about this one. They see it as a ploy by Rowling to squeeze out every big of money from her adoring fans as she can before the Harry Potter series is finally put to rest. I see it as a production company understanding the needs and desires of its audience and supplying the best way to give the fans as complete a retelling of the final book as possible.

I have a degree in media. If you upset the fans, you have to find a new way to pay your bills. That's that.

I'm biased.
