I just saw the film for a second time and plan to go again tomorrow (yeah, I pretty much loved it), but there's something that's been bothering me that many people are adamant is in the film.
A couple of people I went with were saying they saw something fall in the end as well... (I didn't) But that doesn't make sense to me considering that the 'game' going on leads you to the monster coming from the deep ocean...
So is it an extraterrestrial or a sea-monster?
The DI logo seems like rumor. They sneaked a cameo appearance of Slusho! onto an episode of "Heroes" for fun but I don't think it's likely that they would do any "Lost" tie-in in the movie. Mostly because Lost has it's own viral 'game' going on right now (find815.com) and wouldn't need Cloverfield to cross-promote the new season.
Yeah, there obviously is something there since so many people have seen it. My best friend said he read that it's part of a satellite from the Tagrumato Company that fell into the ocean and perhaps upset or disturbed the monster.
I have a feeling we'll have to wait til at least the DVD for any definite answers. But I am loving the fact that J. J. Abrams cares enough about his productions to develop these crazy backstories for them.
I definitely saw it too. It's pretty much on the horizon, if I remember correctly, and it's so far off into the distance that it would be easy to miss.

didn't see the DI logo on it. although, if you squint a bit, you can see the Tagruato logo on the sunken tanker in the beginning.
