The choice of song is absolutely perfect. I love the quick pace and underlying anger here, and the hypocrisy of the double standard pointed in the lyrics and the way it's reflected in the vid. And such amazing editing.

I read your other post and it's incredible food for thought. The use fight sequences in the beginning being awesome/empowering and contrasting it with the fight sequences towards the end being icky and wrongwrongwrong were very powerful.

Thank you so much. : D I was so afraid that the contrast/double standard angle wouldn't come across too clearly, or people would just be all shouty offended in their disagreement, so reading this is kind of a huge relief. : )

Wow! that's really a well made vid, and a very disturbing in a thought inducing way. It find it actually pretty dark and pessimistic, it's like it presents all this violence (rape, but also focus on control of the body, restrains) against women, and then they fight back, and become defined by the violence they use to defend themselves to the point of being bullies and victimisers themselves; and it's like, despite occasional sweet scenes of bonding, there's no way out of that. No way out of the violence than being a victim who doesn't fight back, or being a perpetuer of violence yourself.

Anyway great vid, and loved the parallels between different sources.

Exactly. *jumping up and down excitedly* Did you notice in SCC in particular, Jesse goes back into our timeline where scary 'tortures people as a leisure activity' dude never happened? So then she exposes him to all of her horrible 'interrogation methods' and.. thus causes future!Fisher to happen in the first place. *headdesks* It's an extremely literal cycle of abuse which is really, really disturbing.

But, you know, she's still really hot and stuff. *is weak*

This was such a powerful vid, and at times so wrong, yet fascinating in a "I can't look away" sort of way. The escalation of powerplay and violence twisted my gut in a delightful knot.

Maybe I missed the "gender non-conformity" goal of the vid, except in the last part that made me rewatch it again with new eyes. Then I read your notes and rewatched it again.

My thoughts are all still jumbled by the rawness of the vid, but I loved it and enjoyed it immensely even while I squirmed in my seat.

So did a lot of people, it seems, so that's definitely my bad. I am incredibly flattered that you watched again and tried to make sense of the jumbled rambling though. : D Really, that means a lot.

Well, you already know how much I love this vid. But I just thought I'd say so again because I rewatched it this morning before getting ready for work ( ... )

rewatched it this morning before getting ready for work.

It's secretly comforting to know that other people do this before getting up in the morning too.

...Which just goes to show how much fandom *and* vidding has conditioned me to think women being violent = cool.

It looks like a lot of other people have definitely had the same response so far too. Which is.... really, really troubling on a few levels. Yes, most of our lives are kind of unfairly stacked up against us in lots of ways, but, there are times when fighting back is called for and necessary, and times when it really, really isn't.

And Simon and Carson are ♥. And really amazing role models amidst a bastion of... yeah.

I'll be honest, I was planning to skip watching this vid because I thought I knew what it was going to be about, and I wasn't particularly interested in that. It wasn't until someone highlighted the fact that there was a twist that I watched it, and I realised that you had turned the concept on its head. I am really, really, really impressed. It may not be the most popular view in fandom right now, but I think it really needed to be said, and you said it wonderfully.

Tech-wise, I love the visual parallels and actors connecting different sources, and most importantly, how clear your three-part narrative progression is and how well it came across.

This is an awesome vid. :)

The plan originally was to lure in all the Girl Power types under false pretences, but.. yeah, that may have backfired in a few cases. : D Oh well. It seems to be working out in the end. : )

And wow, am I flattered to be hearing this from you. Like, really. A lot. Slightly irrelevant, but your Brian icons always make me smile.
