I had an almost perfect day yesterday; I felt really balanced. Even the asshole consultant at work who's about as charming as a stone and twice as unpleasant didn't make me mad. A couple of days ago we had a band contest for this metal festival thing that I'm helping to organize, and it was a blast. We had six bands in competition, with styles ranging from AC/DC-like Rock and Roll to Death Metal. It's a beautiful day

The professor passed away about three hours ago. The aneurysm caused him a massive stroke and there was nothing to be done for him. Everybody who ever met him and spent time with him will be affected by his sudden departure, as he was an outstanding individual in every sense of the word. A professor of the Computer Science Department I'm a graduate student in is hospitalized with an aneurysm. The mood around this place is pretty somber, as he is an amazing individual and well-liked by everybody. I think I came up with an idea that may be a really important breakthrough in my research. I still don't know what it's going to be like in the end, but if it works out the way I envision it, it could be the first meaningful step towards having a Master's thesis. I'm feeling too sick to go anywhere right now. I have this nasty cold that's been bothering me since Tuesday night, and I've really felt bad today.
