Teil 6 Riko didn’t do that, normally. She didn’t compare everything about herself to other women, not even the ones working with her. Usually.
But Momoi Satsuki had been hyped up and talked about a lot more than any other woman that came to the MDCI, and Riko could already feel how the rivalry crept up on her.
She knew three things about Momoi: one, she was beautiful (at least on the picture Riko had seen), two, she was a mutant, and three… she was an ex-Monster.
Everyone knew Hunters and Monsters famously didn’t get along all that well. Monsters tended to snatch away their cases - Riko had had it happen to her more than once, even though she knew they would have been competent enough, prepared enough, to close those cases themselves, even if they all were human.
Riko also knew that, at least temporarily, the Monsters had disbanded. At fault was an operation that had gone terribly wrong. At least that’s what Riko had heard. All the details were still classified, and there were way too many rumors for her to even attempt to pick the truth from elaborate lies.
Because of the spike of crime after the Monsters’ disbanding, all of them were offered jobs in other branches of criminal investigations. Momoi Satsuki had received an offer from the MDCI, and here they were now.
And Riko was beginning to be very, very annoyed.
Hyuga, her best friend since childhood, and Izuki were staring at Momoi’s boobs. They weren’t even hiding it. When she looked to her other side at Kiyoshi, her other best friend, whom she had always pegged as very reasonable, her irritation boiled over. Even Kiyoshi was blushing as he stared at Momoi.
What, just because she was really pretty with her big boobs and shimmering skin and long, pink hair and slim figure and that bright smile, it didn’t mean that everyone had to fawn over her.
Riko usually did not compare herself to others like that. But she couldn’t help it when she wasn’t any of it. She didn’t look like a model, her skin was normal and she was suffering from the normal skin problems every woman struggled with, and she had tiny boobs. Somehow, that last point was what annoyed her the most.
“Hello, my name is Momoi Satsuki, nice to meet you!” Momoi greeted them, her voice honey-sweet and friendly, and Riko’s irritation only grew.
Why was she so perfect?
“N-nice to meet you!” Hyuga stammered - stammered - before everyone introduced themselves. Riko swallowed down her irritation, something which she was very proud of, put on a smile, and introduced herself last.
To prevent any of the guys making a fool of themself, at least that was what Riko told herself, she stepped forward. “I can show you around, if you like.”
It was only because she didn’t trust the guys to leave Momoi alone on her first day. Not because she was jealous of Momoi and her charm, and her perfect model body, and didn’t want the guys to be with her.
Momoi’s bright smile turned even brigher and she enthusiastically agreed. If at all possible, Riko’s irritation grew even more, just because she couldn’t really be mad at that woman. She was just too nice.
Riko made sure to glare at each of the guys present to let them know how displeased she was, then turned away and led Momoi down the hall to show her the interrogations rooms first.
“Aida-san, you don’t have to feel threatened by my boobs,” Momoi said when they were far enough away, and Riko sputtered.
“What.”
Momoi brushed her hair behind her ear and smiled at Riko, who was not distracted enough not to notice that it was the typical I’m taking the piss out of you smile. “There is no shame in an A-cup.”
But before Riko could reply, Momoi’s expression suddenly became serious. “Your friends are probably just not used to a… siren.”
Momoi’s red eyes were trained on Riko’s own and Riko’s heart skipped a beat. Riko didn’t know that many mutants, and those that she did know she wasn’t much involved with, so it took her a second to realize that this was probably a big thing for Momoi. To say plainly what she was. To tell Riko up-front.
And just like that, all Riko’s irritation fell away. “I think they’re just idiots,” Riko replied with a small smile, and the smile she got in return seemed genuine, and very sweet.
Inwardly, Riko groaned. She couldn’t possibly stay mad at this woman. This would be a difficult time for her, she was sure.
But Momoi deserved to be treated like everyone else, was what Riko decided on, then and there. And she would make sure they’d have an excellent working relationship.
Even if her cup size was at least three times smaller than Momoi’s.
