wacky thing for today

woah. (to be said in a keanu-reeves-esque manner) Holy crap that's weird. Check this out. Try watching this movie (there's a larger one that I like a little better just cause there's not so much clutter) and note what syllables he says. Then close your eyes, play the movie, and listen to what syllables you hear. So bizarre! It's called the ( Read more... )

Can't watch it right now, but I will.

And yeah...FF X-2...good stuff. I hear that protracted periods of playing may cause the gamer to feel a strong urge to change clothes 10 times an hour, and to randomly check out their compatriots' butts.

I think I'm broken... either that, or I'm just one of the 2% who doesn't fall for the "normal" stimuli. I listened to it several times while watching and thought he was saying the "Ga ga ga" he was mouthing... but I never did hear the "Da da da." :( Aww... I don't know whether or not to feel special or feel broken.

hrm... well, after trying it again (while trying to hear the da da da), I think I managed to "hear" it. Although I still think it sounds more like the "ga ga ga" while watching. Maybe I'm only half broken now. :(

hehe... actually I think that might mean it works better on you! it should be so that when you watch it you hear da, but if you close your eyes you hear ba. If you're hearing ga while watching, then your visual input is completely (instead of just partially) overriding the audio. weeirwwd. (to be said homestarrunner-style, which I'm not sure how to spell)

I seriously feel like I'm about 15 years old when I play that game

Well, the adolescent Japanese pop theme probably adds to that effect.

hehe... definitely... not to mention the whole changing clothes in the middle of battle thing. I like the dress-sphere/job system, but it really does make one feel silly while playing... "hang on a minute, don't try to kill me just yet... just let me change into a nice, battle ready evening gown, here..." Still, it's a fun game, if only for the purposes of laughing at how girly the main characters are...

I dind't know about the whole clothes thing. It does add to its amusement factor. Especially since I can tease any and all guys I know who play it about "playing dress-up." ;-) And the television ads for FF X-2 certainly emphasize the whole girly aspect. "Look, we're singing on-stage, then we're doing acrobatic flips over bad guys! And we're wearing great clothes to do both! Adolescent grrrl power!"

Here's an interesting link to an article about the new characters they added to the Morse Code character set.

They need to add the tilde, so I can learn morse code and tap out ironic smoking, winking parisian emoticons after every message. ;I~

heehee. yay for a more complete morse code! An @ was definitely needed. yeah, they just need a tilde and an exclamation point, and then I'd be happy... ah, so geeky. but so fun!

The McGurk effect is one of the language shortcuts that our brains use. Sort of like that South Park character who said 'plane-arium'...experiments show that if just a little static is added to the spot where a letter should be, we 'hear' the whole word without the moment of static taking the place of one sound.

The worst part about X-2 was that I finished the main quests far too quickly. I tend to play the game through fast once, then go in for a more thorough run.

But then when I was working on my second time around, I heard about the 'perfect' ending, and then went and downloaded it...and then I didn't care about finishing it again.

Very strange feeling.

Now I get to go drool over Advent Children until it comes out. www.ff7ac.net

And Kes, why didn't anyone tell me that both you and your sister were on LJ? I feel I need to kick someone over this issue.

Hehe... I dunno why no one mentioned it to you-- just don't kick me! :)

Yeah... X-2 isn't my favorite of the final fantasy series, although it is definitely entertaining... I have yet to decide whether I really feel like going through the whole 100% completion deal or just cheating. I'll probably cheat, as I'm pretty lazy with that stuff. I dunno though... I do enjoy all the final fantasy side-quest craziness.

And yeah... definitely looking forward to advent children. mmm.. *drools*
