This is brilliant - I keep attempting to work on my assignment and then getting dragged back into reading this because I /have/ to know what happens. I love the interaction between kid!Kirk and adult!Spock, and Kirk and Spock (both pairs) are so sweet together XD

It's OK if you feel glad - the assignment isn't due for a week, I was just trying to be proactive. This was worth spending my time on XD

And I should have commented earlier. This is literally the ONLY WIP fic I've EVER followed. I usually have to wait for them to be complete before I read. If I do read WIPs, I never go back to them because I forget about them. This one I found at chapter 16, I think and have checked its progress at least once a week since then. It's a truly amazing fic that shows a realistic and wonderful side of kirk/spock both as adults and children. I love your portrayals of the characters, especially Winona, who doesn't get enough appreciation, in my opinion.
Thank you for this wonderful fic and I can't wait for more.

thanks so much for the awesome comment :) i'm only replying now but i actually got it yesterday, just as i was angsting over my writing. Been working on part 23, and been totally having a fit over the level of tension I can maintain lol DAMN battles are hard.
Am glad you've been following along, enjoying the characters, and Winona! Well, Kirk had to get his attitude from somewhere right? :)
I can't wait for more either - I want this fic to be done and done. It's over 210000words right now... lol

The parallels are beautiful between baby Jim and nu!Jim :) both willing and ready rush to someone's aid :) and I'm sure Spock found the tactics discussion fascinating! The display of trust between them was epic and wonderful! And the battle scene description was perfection :) the destruction and then horrible realization and the strange swell of relief after being rescued, you're so brilliant.
