We arrived in Clinton late yesterday afternoon. Yesterday was formation flying, a first for me. Today was the big day! I hooked up with the Ton Up Pirates Caravan in Greeley, CO this morning and we took off for Clinton, IA. The plan was to make it to Columbus, NE and over night there. After dropping the car off at the shop Friday morning, I decided to go ahead and get the plane out for a quick test flight. The density altitude was high and getting higher. Sunday my mom took us to see "The Sound of Music" at the Boulder Dinner Theater. It was well done. There are a couple of subtle differences between the play and the movie. Last July, a light plane crashed near Rollins Pass in the Indian Peaks Wilderness area West of Boulder, CO. Several things really bothered me about this crash at the time. The plane is running on a borrowed magneto. Borrowed from Jim's O-360. Jim had me order a replacement. The problem is, he told me to order the same magneto he put in my plane. When the magneto arrived, we found out it wasn't to correct magneto for my plane. Jim apologized for the error, ordered the correct mag and shipped the incorrect mag back. ( Read more... )
