Glad all is well. From what I've heard, not getting in the way is the best thing to do. The Chileans who have weighed in on the NY Times blog have said, essentially "we know from earthquakes; we were prepared; yeah, it sucked, but we'll deal with it efficiently and effectively." But that was yesterday--things may be different today... Hope you can find a way to help, in any case.
I thought of you right away, glad to hear you are safe. I don't have any special insight into how to help, sounds like donating blood is a very personal good thing to do!
