It is the most awesome, and at the same time terrifying, thing to realize that there is a young person who looks up to you and sees everything you do and thinks you know everything. And you are responsible for a large chunk of his development and ensuring he grows up to be a little better person and have a little better life than you've had.

It is hard to believe that 2 years ago today, I went on my first date with my fiancee Patti. It went by fast, and now we're buying a house, planning a wedding and all the other stuff that goes along with that. Wow. In a good way.

The kitties are coping very well with their new environs. They do need to stop eating my aloe plants, or maybe I need to make them inaccessible. But I am sure they are enjoying the attention and interaction. Even Patti enjoys them. Except when Lou gets up and she's got a white pantleg full of black fur. Oops.

The thermometer above my desk is reading 94 degrees. With the awful humidity I can only imagine what the heat index is. How many days til Fall?

I would be remiss if I did not mention the fact that my mother and sisters are all wonderful, caring people. My post is in no way a critique, merely me venting. They are all intelligent, articulate people who are also far more considerate than I. Maybe that is what makes this hard to understand. I really hate that my family is so fractured right now. There is no need for grieving people to have to deal with this on top of everything else. Now should be a time when we band together more closely and try to get through this in solidarity. And in reference to my Subject, I wish it was a little less public. Could someone please tell me where the first half of 2012 went!???

Today is one of those rare days we get but a couple of times a year. The humidity is low, there is a slight breeze and the temp is in the 70's. Just about perfect. And it's a Friday, which always helps.

Congratulations to my little sister, Jack, on being sworn into the NY Bar Association today. (Insert "bar" joke here) I'm very proud of my sibling and wish I could be there to celebrate with the family. At least Mom and Jennie will be there.

But not to Mizz Pifer. ;)
