We went through various links that are on class page. Links of places that provide cataloging records. Google is not providing MARC records of any sort for the millions of books they've digitized. In chapter 6 on Sharing Data: Metadata Harvesting and Distrubution, it discusses the presentation of various metadata schemes. It discusses the nature of crosswalking information and how information can be lost in the process. It also discusses the necessity of metadata. -

In chapter 5- it covers the concept of metadata and some of the shemas used such as METS, MODS, RDF and MARCXML. The chapter seems to focus a lot on Dublin Core than the others.
