I got this idea in my head and now I cannot unsee it: Erik as a brooding, obsessive detective who's teetering on vigilantism in order to catch and kill a charismatic and elusive serial killer, Sebastian Shaw, who murdered his mother in front of his eyes. Moira is the lead agent of the FBI unit assigned to Shaw's case, and she ends up recruiting Dr. Charles Xavier, a reknowned specialist (clinical/criminal psychologist? a profiler? what?), who also happens to be a brother of the unit's newest recruit, Raven.
In the course of the investigation, Erik and the team cross path, and Erik and Charles get on like a house on fire. (And together, they fight crime!) I can totally see it, with Erik wanting to avenge his mother's death once they corner Shaw and Charles appealing to Erik's nature, and so on and so forth, but I would also love to see them solving other mysteries and fighting the good fight.
Bonus points if Hank, Alex, and Sean are the unit's fledging agents, because, aww.

I couldn't resist picking up this AU prompt - they seem to be my weakness lately. Unfortunately, I won't be able to be as productive as I'd like at the moment. I'm busy for the next few days, but I'll definitely be working on this. Count on at least one update a day. A knock woke Erik from a dead sleep. A paper clung to his cheek as he sat up and he hastily yanked it free of his skin. He blinked the world into focus. It was the fifth time this week he’d spent the night at his desk. His neck was already protesting the awkward position, and his head ached from caffeine withdrawal. “Yes?” he said

OMG! I can't believe this prompt is being filled! You can't believe how happy this makes me. This is an awesome start, and of course I don't mind any changes you might make--this is your story now. <3
Also, I love this description of Charles: He looked fresh and young-untested
Aw. Hope Charles proves Erik wrong in an epic way. <3

Erik’s office was on the fourth floor of a rather run-down old building. It used to hold apartments in the 1940s, and the layout of every office had a vaguely home-like feel. Erik’s rented space had probably been an large studio-there was the entryway, where Emma had her desk, and a door leading to the main room. A fireplace was crumbling to pieces in a corner, and the walls were brick and concrete. Emma kept her area brightly lit, and had covered up the unfinished walls with pieces of photography. Erik hadn’t bothered. With only a desk, a filing cabinet, and a couple of mismatched chairs, it usually looked stark and functional. It wasn't a home or anything. Just a place he used

Moira shot Erik a dark look. She was used to him berating the interns and new employees she hired. It had almost become a game to see how long they’d last before they threw up their hands and declared they wouldn’t go with Moira when she met with that “damn Lensherr guy”. (Erik knew for a fact that Emma had begun running a few pools amidst the local security circles, and bets were taken as to how long the person in question would last in Erik’s company. Emma was probably on her cell phone at that moment, calling Azazel to gleefully recount how green Xavier looked and offer up appropriate odds
