An AU where Charles never met Raven as a child, so Erik is the first other mutant he comes across, and Charles is so blown away by not being alone that he is willing to help Erik build a mutant army despite his moral misgivings, just because he couldn't stand to be alone again.

I swear, this just gets better and better with every update. The sheer depth of Charles' depression is overwhelming and feels so real, it's physically heartwrenching. I can't wait for more, I know it'll be amazing.

'Shaw has a telepath,' Erik rumbles and Raven laughs.

'That was the idea behind this, yeah. He's--fuck, Erik, he's strong. I mean, he's kind of drunk right now, but what he did...' Charles opens his eyes to see her making some wiggly gesture in the air with her manicured nails. He has no idea what she's trying to convey or who Shaw is or how she knows he's a telepath (because he did research, okay, and freak's not the technical word for it) but Erik tilts his head, considering.

'Can you show me?' And no, no Charles can't, because the thought of using it, the thought of trying to do it makes him abruptly nauseous, makes a cold clench of terror seize around something in his chest and if he wasn't so unsteady on his feet, he'd run, run out the door and down the hall and through the lobby and away, run until he collapsed ( ... )

Oh, Charles.

This breaks my heart in all the good ways and I love Raven in this and poor Charles trying so desperately to stop being who he is. This fill is incredible. Your writing is brilliant and I can't wait for more!

Also, if you're having trouble with seeing your posts, just log into LJ, that usually solves it. The posts are there, but they don't always show up if you aren't logged in.

As always, this is amazing. I love where this is going, and I honestly couldn't be happier with this fic. I've run out of adjective to express my joy, so I'm just going to say that this is seven kinds of wonderful an leave it at that

Anon here! I am so glad. I only just re-read the prompt and realized you'd specified that Erik was meant to be the first one to meet Charles and I was all "oh no, I done goofed."

Not in the slightest! Ultimately the integral part of what I wanted was that Charles was alone for most of his life, so that when he met Erik/other mutants the contrast would be so much more dramatic. That idea is something that you've captured utterly, and I am so, so excited for where this is going.

This fic is so much more than I'd hoped for, it's hitting every angst-bone in my body, it's just lovely.

So yeah. Yay x
