I ran across a recent entry on myspace with the title "gay." This really interested me, I clicked on it and it asked a question...

Gay marriage?

Simple and quaint, yet a topic of debate.
Here was my response, i would like to see what you all have to say.

So how do you feel about gay marriage? )

How would you feel if you were gay and you and your partner have shared a home together for many years then your partner died with the house and positions in his name and you lost everything to his family all because you werent (and couldnt get) legally married?

what if there is no will?

And alot of families contest it.

And since they werent married, they cant do anything about it.

families will contest a will even if the person has a spouse.

"what ifs" are not valid arguements, they're speculation.

personally i think shows like the bachelor & joe billionaire ruin the sanctity (sp) of getting married. more than a man & man or woman & woman wanting to make a commitment to each other.

i agree whole heartedly. Honestly though, i have heard hundreds of straight people complain, but not a single gay person complain. The actual attempt to change the laws, were started BY a straight person. It's as if someone is trying to be some hero. I just don't understand, because they're already given civil unions, which is literally the EXACT SAME THING as marriage, aside from the religious aspect, and the title.

they don't get benefits like married people do. if you want a gay man's opinion on this ask eddie. one day he wants to get married same with mike. & you know some people want the title, i know i want the title i don't want to have kids with a "partner" you know? why should it be any different for them.

they actually do get the same rights! that's the thing! it's under the Vermont law. it's 'til death do them part, or divorce. Same benefits unless the place they're going to is homophobic. I'm not against gay marriage because i hate gays or anything, it's just i don't see the necessity of it when they already have civil union, which still gives them the titles husbands, or wives if they want/need it.

i honestly think gay people cry too much. about everything. nothing against them, they just cry over stupid shit. this topic included. to me someone sexual preference shouldnt have anything to do with how laws affect them. its not like a race issue where they dont have any choice how they are, its being gay.
