if I turn back all these clocks, would that be time enough?

Do I lose scene points for liking "Revolutions Per Minute" more than "The Unraveling"? I realize claiming a band's early album as your favorite shows how cool you are and gives you cred for knowing the band before they were humongous, but honestly sometimes it takes a band a couple albums to hit their stride. A lot of bands get better as they go ( Read more... )

Return of Saturn is a favourite of mine as well. That cd was wonderful, and then to hear Rock Steady afterwards...I just wasn't very pleased. I completely adore every song on ROS though. So good.

As for what is tearing the crap out of my stereo lately....I am all about the Built to Spill, the two new remastered/redone Fiona Apple songs (especially Parting Gift), Lightning Bolt, and Mates of State.

Rock Steady was a complete letdown. After the amazingness of Return of Saturn, I was expectiing pure magic with the next album. I blame it on Gwen being happy. In my opinion, the two best albums they've ever made are Tragic Kingdom and Return of Saturn. During Tragic Kingdom, she was going through a breakup with Tony Kanal. During Return of Saturn, she was edging close to 30 and questioning her realtionship with Gavin Rossdale. By the time Rock Steady came out, she was all happy and married to Mr. Rossdale, living the good life, and everything was hunky dory.

Pain = good rocking music
Being happy = crappy dancehall wannabe music

YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THE VASCO ERA. And actually really do it and tell me about it. I want Vasco Era loving buddies.

They are a dirty bluesy rock band and they can tear any stage to pieces, that statement can be quite literal too.

I am uploading some of their tunes right now for you.

Vasco Era mp3's!!
The first is the all out rocker tune, the second is the one that Sid sings more of than he screams.

I can't get that site to work for me right now, but I will definitely listen to them when it will cooperate!

And Dave Grohl is in love with me, everybody knows it.
