I brunch on so-so Benedict and 5 or 6 mimosas with Josh and his straight friends Will & Sheena. It makes me reflect on how good I have it in Minnesota.

We reluctantly join 60 seventh graders (and the spirit of Nicholas Cage) at the National Archives. In four shoulder-to-shoulder rows we wait to see the sacred texts if our nation. I expected it would be quieter.

I'm a little short with my host (not much at all though) because I fought with phramok because I was short with him. But that passed.

I was an hour late to the apartment of Joe Solmonese, because of the wait at the scrumptious Rosa Mexicano. I arrived to find my pal Jed and his beau Joe watching "Ugly Betty" in their lounge wear. Joe wore lycra pants. I wonder if he was cold.

Strolling idle in Dunbarton Oaks, brilliant privilege surrounds me. Passed by many hands from Queen Anne to Harvard, this was where FDR and friends crafted our (now broken) world order. I wonder if Obama would use it again, or some sterile conference room.

I wander old haunts today, wondering where to go. Half my attempts to connect with friends have succeeded, but today I hop among hotspots alone in gay Dupont Circle. Now? Crepes a go go.

Saw two Mormon boys as I topped the long subway trench. Nervous, they avoided my gaze.

Terrible week.

My chum was fired at work today, patially the fallout of Monday's discovery: I'd failed to enter $5K in expenses, obscuring the nonprofit's rather wretched financial situation.

Granted, there was strife between the two already and this just made the excuse, but still. I hate being wrong.
