[ ABOUT CLAIMS ]
How do I make/update/delete a claim?
Go to the
Claims Post, fill out the template with your information, and post it under the category comment. If you're editing your claim (for example, you've changed journals) you may either edit the comment or delete it and repost. If you've decided you no longer want to continue with your claim, simply delete the comment altogether.
I'm finished my claim! Now what?
Congratulations! Be sure to drop by the
Completed Claims post and we'll add you to the Hall of Fame.
Are crossovers allowed between fandoms?
Yes.
Can I collaborate with someone else on a claim?
Yes.
Are original characters/series allowed?
Yes. Please mention in your claim that they're original, though.
If someone's already claimed the character/pairing I want, do I have to wait until they're done?
No, we allow multiple claims of the same character/pairing/series/etc.
If I'm claiming a relationship, can it be a threesome? Or more?
OTP/OT3s are allowed, any more than that and it should be claimed under either Character (if all the pairings have a character in common) or General Series.
Do relationships have to be romantic-themed?
No, this category covers all interactions between characters such as friendship, rivalry, etc.
What if my claim covers more than one category, like both Romantic and Friendship?
Pick the one that best describes the claim overall. For example, two bitter enemies might one night fall into bed together, but it's still a Rivalry, not a Romance. You can't have a dual claim like Romantic/Friendship. Likewise, a General Series claim may still have a romantic relationship in it, but it should not be the focus of each theme.
Do I have to stay within established canon while writing my claim? (The infamous, "can I make my claimed character gay?" question.)
No, you're allowed to interpret your claim any way you want. HOWEVER, the claim should still be set within the same universe (some deviations allowed) and not within a completely separate universe unconnected to the original. (Don't put canon characters in your original series universe, etc.)
Can I claim real-life actors/band members/celebrities/etc?
No. At this time, we do not allow claims outside fictional universes. Please do not try to claim Brad Pitt x Angelina Jolie.
[ ABOUT THEMES ]
Are these themes supposed to be taken metaphorically or literally?
It's up to the writer. Some fandoms allow for certain themes to be taken literally, and others don't. Feel free to mix and match your interpretations.
What has to be included with each theme?
The theme should be based upon the prompt given for each hour. ALSO, each theme must include a reference TO that hour somewhere in the fic. It does not have to be to the hour exactly, for example, if you're doing 4PM, you can use 4:20pm or something like that, just any time that falls within that hour.
Do the themes need to be set during that particular hour, or can they just be referenced?
As long as the hour of the theme is mentioned somewhere, it can just be referenced.
Do the hours for each theme need to be from the same day?
No.
Do I have to write these themes in order?
Absolutely not. Whatever strikes your fancy, go with that.
[ ABOUT POSTING ]
Can I combine multiple themes into one submission?
No, we prefer that you write 24 seperate themes.
Can I post multiple completed themes in the same post?
No, please post each completed theme as a seperate post to the community. This is due to the tagging and memorying system, which helps people find a specific entry at a later date.
Is there are word limit (maximum or minimum) on the themes?
No.
Can I do a fanart/icon/banner for my themes?
No, as this is a writing challenge community we ask that only fanfics or drabbles are submitted for these themes.
Do I have to use the posting format provided in the Profile?
Yes please. This saves time for the mods later on.
Do I have to post the themes in this community? Or can I post them in my journal and link them?
You can, as long as you use the same posting format from the above question and include the link in place of the LJ-cut. Important: If you are linking them to another community, the mods ask that the post not be friends-locked or members only.
Do I have to tag my posts?
Please do. If you're not sure how to add a tag, or the tag you need isn't there, just leave it out and include a note at the bottom of your post (outside the LJ cut) so we can help you with it. Remember that each post needs to be tagged with the following: *category, time, author name, series.
