After finishing my paper (well... sorta... needs some editing) on Huidobro's poetry, I've decided to post some!!

don't want to be anal retentive, but I am. ;)

I think "fumamos" refers to the past (el indefinido), so that would be smoked

I think this because the rest of the poem is in the past

but the rest of the poem isn't in the past ;)

Y el pasado lleno de hojas secas
Pierde el sendero de la floresta

and

Que los almendros huelen a tabaco

and

Sobre la vida lejana
alguien llora

... one of the big things about it, in fact, is the tense changes

But we smoked in the past so the tress smell of tobacco? That's possible...

yeah but I'm not feelin it... present tense in english sounds more poetic anyways (cause past gets used more). *shrugs*
