Re:Iroh, when I had MAJOR voice-emo over Ros, well...that's when I started transcribing her canon. I don't advocate such a thing AT ALL, but avatarspirit.net has transcripts of all the episodes up, maybe reading the Iroh-centric ones would help, especially since they're available at any time for perusal. The other thing I did with Katara is watch episodes with the sound turned off and just...watch her body language and mannerisms. That really really helped to get me into her headspace in the early days of playing her. I will also randomly look at screencaps, for the same reason. I can't say if that approach will work for everyone, but I'm just throwing ideas out, as I want to help you keep him. ♥
