Honestly, I think it's more of the 'pinnacle of love' than monogamy, but more difficult to achieve in today's society. Most of that opinion has been influenced by Heinlein, though.

Well, I've told you my thoughts, but your other comment reminded me of something. I agree with him that Heinlein has a very nice description of how I think polyamory *should* work in Stranger in a Strange Land.
