What Knows No Bounds
Chapter One: The Naked Truth
By Yodai Hiro “aka” orions-tears on 10.14.06

---

Pairing: TouyaxHiei

Fandom: Yu Yu Hakusho

Theme: #15, spring

Disclaimer: I don’t own Yu Yu Hakusho because Yoshihiro Togashi-sama has that right to claim.

---

Claimer: I’ll claim as I need to.

Gen. Summary: Will Touya accidentally discover what it is that holds no bounds in the blind pursuit of Hiei’s heart?

Ch. Summary: He wasn’t humiliated because she saw him in a weak moment…no…he was mortified because she saw him NAKED!

Gen. Warning(s): Lots of angst. Mainly shounen-ai, but there will probably be some shoujo-ai and het as well. And there’s a big possibility I’ll be upping the rating on this fic later down the road. So there’ll most likely be full blown yaoi at some point toward the end, meaning sexual relations between two guys. Aye, and expect lots of twists and romance to be slow because of the main pairing I’m dealing with. Violence. Cursing. Implied sexual situations. Ect.

Ch. Warning(s): Angst. Out-of-character-ness. Cursing. Nudity doesn’t really count because I don’t get graphic with it, but…just to be on the safe side, I’ll list it as a warning.

Rating: M

A/N: Heh…if I were you I wouldn’t even ask where the hell this chapter came from…because I couldn’t even begin to tell you, but this chapter is dedicated to Saku-chan and Ozu-chan! Aye, and the ice maiden he keeps referring to IS Yukina, if you need me to be blunt…and no they’re not going to end up together. They become really close friends, though. And what’s this about a newborn half-breed? Hm…Yukina and Genkai seem to have their hands full, huh? I wonder where Hiei could be…well…enjoy everyone! And I’m going to try my best not to use anymore Japanese words, unless I have absolutely have to. AND SO WHAT IF TOUYA HAS LONG HAIR!!! This is MY fanfiction! Don’t like, don’t read! It’s as simple as that.

With morning’s breath came the taste of spring mist to liven the emerald foliage dappling the Mountains of Courage. There was no doubt Nature’s tongue cherished every gentle drop falling onto Her earthly lips because She would be replenished and strong enough to endure Human World’s apathetic blows for another day. The rejuvenating scent of this sweet rain seemed to jolt the animals and birds from their peaceful slumber to greet the new day with an unbridled zest.

The harmonious song of the birds chorused in adoration of Mother Earth. Keeping Her in their hearts, the squirrels gossiped about all the nuts they would certainly find this day, for their precious Mother was generous in bounty. The deer and rabbit were a bit more discreet in expressing their love for the Earth, or perhaps ‘humble in praising Her name’ was a better way to describe it. These creatures were just a few of the many hallowed creatures pure in their acknowledgement of the feminine half of their Creator. Only the gods knew how much demons and humans could learn from them. Thankless, irreverent beings didn’t deserve such a caring Creator…

A yawn escaped the mouth of Father Sky from the east, where a halo of gold was just beginning to crown the highest peak of the Mountains of Courage. Warm rays mingling with a fresh breeze snuck playfully through an open window on the east side of the sacred shrine nestled snugly in the centre of Genkai’s Forest at the base of the Mountains of Courage. The poor, unfortunate being on the receiving end of the sun and wind’s antics happened to be one of the most beautiful creatures the Creator had ever molded into existence with Its hands, for even the divine light and breath of life couldn’t help but admire this ethereal soul.

The light’s awe was so overwhelming it just couldn’t seem to keep itself from touching the restless creature enveloped within the blue cotton of a sheet…couldn’t control its excitement of seeing that it could make the strange being even more gorgeous with illumination. Even the wind was having a tough time remaining calm in this creature’s presence because its invisible hands brushed four long, light green bangs out of the being’s closed eyes before caressing a smooth, pale cheek with the recognizable chaste kisses of a butterfly’s wings. A hand with slender, graceful fingers found its way to that cheek wanting to hold those tender kisses forevermore.

When the wind noticed the tears shimmering in the sun’s light, it sadly beckoned to its bright companion to let the creature be as it silently berated itself for causing’s this lovely creature’s sadness. The divine light and breath of life decided to spare the grieving being from their curiosity, which had merely began from their play, but they would never completely be gone from that soul of indescribable beauty…

“Jin?” A quiet but broken inquiry passed from full, satin rose lip, the voice debatably male.

A waist length, thick braid of the lightest blue slapped hard against the being’s back from jerking upright in bed, the sheet dropping to the creature’s waist, exposing the lean muscles of a firm chest, and confirming that the being was definitely male. Azure orbs peering wildly through naturally slanted eyes could steal anyone’s breath away…but make one’s own tears fall because of the broken look in his eyes. If someone were to look upon him now, that someone could never guess that this creature, even more unimaginably striking in his sorrow, was the essence of winter’s soulless brutality in battle. They could never guess that he was the sole heir to a fierce reputation and rigid code of honor belonging to the elite ninjitsu sect of Makai, the Shinobi of Demon World…that he was known by all three worlds as Touya, the Ice Master.

“Don’t play with me, idiot!” Touya hissed softly suddenly saving face with the icy embers of anger, his eyes transforming to the familiar merciless steel of cold death.

The Ice Master glared out his bedroom window condemning, not only Jin, but spring altogether because he was ashamed of becoming weak again…as he had done so many times when he was alone in the past week. He was proud of himself for keeping his chaotic emotions hidden beneath his emotionless mask (he spent five centuries perfecting it) when he was around the ice maiden, elder human shrine master, and newborn half-breed they looked after.

Touya barely understood the grief consuming him from the inside out, so how could he even begin to understand why someone would offer him condolence for losing his best friend? He was grateful they were too wrapped up in their own problems (not about the fact that they were having problems) to see him as anything more than just a visiting demon seeking temporary haven in the Human Realm. He was thankful, for once, that he had always acted so impersonal toward Yusuke’s bunch. Anonymity was the greatest gift he could ever receive during this painful period in his life.

Touya didn’t need someone to see him struggle with carrying the burgeoning weight of grief and guilt over Jin’s death and, not to mention, the utter hopelessness of the task he had committed himself to in the final moments of Jin’s life. He couldn’t bear another soul to know that the dispassionate ice master actually had a heart that could shatter…a heart that was at this very moment shattering one agonizing shard at a time.

‘I don’t want them to know I’m breaking…Hell I don’t want to know I’m breaking…Damn you, Jin…’ Touya thought halfheartedly to himself cupping his face in his hands.

“Why wasn’t I the one to die? Jin deserved to live, for he knew how to treasure it…even when he was staring tragedy in the face. Why does the cold, living dead one exist instead?” Touya’s murmur was heart wrenching...

“Destiny, Fate, or whatever the hell you are, you’re twisted sense of humor doesn’t have me laughing!” Touya yelled in a harsh whisper shaking his fists at the ceiling in an uncharacteristic expression of rage.

“Are you faring well, sir?” The soft, kind voice of the ice maiden floated through the door.

“Yes, ma’am…” Touya answered in his quiet, cool, polite voice while trying to calm the storm inside of him.

There was silence for a few seconds and then…

“Breakfast is ready. Is it your desire to eat with us or take this meal in your room as usual, sir?” It seemed that this abnormally warm hearted ice maiden didn’t forget her element, for her voice had just sounded like the impersonal, polite coolness he used often when he had to speak with someone other than an opponent on the battlefield.

“Thank you for offering me breakfast, ma’am, but I will not be taking a meal this morning.” Touya responded just as distantly as she had asked him the question finding himself slightly impressed with her ability to mask her emotions.

Touya had to wonder if it was just an ice demon thing, until he started to think about Hiei…

Ripping himself away from any thoughts about the fire demon with a hard wrench of his head, Touya fell off the bed, caught up in his sheet. An unexpectedly loud and rather long string of vulgar adjectives flew left and right from his mouth. He instantly found the worried scarlet gaze of the ice maiden hovering close above him before she quickly looked away, her pale cheeks immediately stained bright pink.

Touya didn’t think he had ever blushed so hard in his life…wait…he hadn’t ever blushed before IN his life! He wasn’t humiliated because she saw him in a weak moment…no…he was mortified because she saw him NAKED!
