When faced with a challenge, Sniper was unlikely to back down; however, when engaged in a fight he clearly couldn't win, his tactics changed, and he chose flight over fight. After all, in order to fall in favor of survival of the fittest, one had to survive. While he might have had a chance with his kukri, he was no brawler, and it was quickly becoming apparent he was in over his head ( ... )

orz - sorry for the delay. I just had to... sleep. fridgevigilante December 4 2011, 05:25:05 UTC
Wounded arm or not. Rorschach had never been one to go easy on himself or others. If he let himself be stopped by a little pain he could just as well retire.

Growling soundlessly, he glared at the edge of the roof for a moment, listening to the sounds of the man that had just dropped down to the ground. Reloading. Waiting for the crimefighter to step right into his line of fire once more. It almost made him want to laugh.

Almost.

Moving quietly as ever, Rorschach rather went to the other side of the roof and quickly climbed down the same way he had gone up before, ignoring the protest from his wounded arm. Drawing his grappling gun, the man quickly went around the building, making sure to remain unseen in its shadows until he caught sight of the sharpshooter still aiming his weapon up to the roof.

Rorschach snorted, stepped around the corner and out of the shadows, raised his own weapon and aimed it at the mercenarie's upper body. And fired.

Sleep has to happen sometime. No worries! hasstandards December 4 2011, 05:48:20 UTC
After a few moments of the masked vigilante failing to appear at the edge of the roof, Sniper knew his foe was playing it safe, avoiding the inevitable gunshot waiting for him should he try to follow. From the way he fought, it was likely he had experience. He knew better than to walk into a trap ( ... )

Sleep. Among other things... fridgevigilante December 4 2011, 08:03:53 UTC
The very moment he had shot the grappling hook at his opponent, Rorschach had lunged right after the projectile and straight at the downed man. Keeping an eye out for the huge blade the other drew, Rorschach made a quick grab for Sniper's wrist holding the weapon in an attempt of twisting the limb out of the way and, if possible, get a punch through at his opponent's face.

Like a certain RED having the stew beat out of him? hasstandards December 4 2011, 08:32:02 UTC
Again, the masked man moved faster than RED could handle; though he was ready this time with his knife, his wrist was grabbed, twisted, and forced down to the pavement. The punch the vigilante threw at his face landed, the back of his head- and unfortunately, the area that had just managed to recover from that nasty concussion- connecting with the pavement beneath him.

He stifled the sharp groan that managed to push itself through him in spite of his efforts; what he didn't hold back was his immediate retaliation. Up came his other hand, going straight to grab his opponent's throat.

A short sound of breath being cut off escaped the masked adventurer when his throat was grabbed, causing him to let go of the hand he had still been holding down and use his newly freed hand to grab the wrist of RED's other hand around his throat. Using his grip to hold the other man's arm steady, Rorschach quickly pulled back his free hand yet again, disregarding the pain and protest from the bullet wound entirely. Putting enough power in the upcoming blow to snap the bone of a man with twice the body mass than his current opponent, he quickly rammed his flat, gloved hand against the elbow of the outstretched arm he was holding in place with his other hand.

Or that. Whichever. XD hasstandards December 5 2011, 09:32:40 UTC
The distinct crack of breaking bone was accompanied by an outcry from the bushman that echoed loudly in the empty streets. Sniper's arm fell from his assailant's neck, fingers twitching as every nerve in him screamed in agony. His legs kicked, jerking in an uncoordinated dance as he pulled his injured limb to him, his body curling in upon itself reflexively for protection. His other hand still bore the knife, his fingers having gripped the handle even tighter as he tried to manage the incredible pain that permeated every inch of him ( ... )

Having a busy RL can be fun, yes. fridgevigilante December 5 2011, 10:16:00 UTC
Rorschach let go of the broken arm and there was an odd sort of satisfation in the way the black and white shifted slowly over his face. The potential danger to Paradise's little festivity had ceased his struggle. Well. Mostly. The vigilante reached for the weapon still clasped in the mercenarie's hand while grabbing the front of Sniper's shirt with the other and pulling him up and towards himself ever so slightly.

"Should have listened from the start. Gunning for civilians: Bad habit. Probably responsible for previous murders?"

Killing this man wasn't on the vigilante's agenda as of yet. First he needed some answers from him. And depending on what this little interview would turn into he could still kill him... Or lock him up somewhere.

Sniper's fingers gripped the blade even tighter, refusing to give it up even as the odds looked grim. He held back his inclination to use it, still trying to shut out the pain that cut him to his core.

His breath rattled through his chest as the vigilante pulled him by the collar of his shirt; his voice sounded no better than his respiration. "I don't know what you're talking about," he said in reply, the answer the clearest he'd given all night. Too little, too late, but at least it was the truth rather than his usual avoidance.

He held the other man for another set of moments, the mask of moving black and white staring in Sniper's face mercilessly. Finally the grip on his shirt eased a little, though the hand watching out for the RED's armed one remaiend in place "Hrrn. Telling the truth." but he had no inclination of answering the question. Rather he had more on his end, Rorschach's voice growing a notch darker again "Then why the weapons. Why aim for innocent people?"

Paradise had at least one criminal already. And one was one too many. So if this one was a potential second criminal that was just starting out, the vigilante now had the best opportunity to take care of him.

A grimace crossed Sniper's face; he choked back a breath, forcing his eyes to focus on the shifting colors of the mask before him. He could feel his consciousness slipping away- he refused to let it go just yet. Stubbornness would keep him going for much longer than it should have.

"Was just looking," came in response. It was unfortunate that the truth sounded like a flimsy excuse. "Trying to figure out what was going on in the park. Would rather avoid... people."

"Looking. With sniping rifle." Rorschach gave a disdainful snort and he let go of the other man's shirt "Next time: Save yourself trouble. Visit party like respectful citizen."

The hand that had just been holding the RED curled into a tight fist and rushed forward right at the already downed man's face once more. Aimed to at least break his nose for good and knock him out for a while.

Sniper would've spit in the masked man's face for his scornful tone alone, but wasn't given the chance. Just as he thought his luck might be changing for the better- he supposed avoidance of the truth wasn't always the best route- he was proven wrong as the vigilante's fist connected with his face. His mind and body were sluggish at that point, running on autopilot as they worked to keep him functioning through the pain.

And with the crunching of his nose, cartilage breaking upon impact, that delicate balance that kept him moving was thrown off. Blood poured down his face, spilling on the front of his shirt and vest. He went slack; his eyes saw neither the red, nor the white of the moonlight as his vision faded, consciousness finally leaving him.

Rorschach quietly watched the man pass out before setting to remove the oversized knife from his hand, fingers gripping the weapoin tightly. Growling mildly at the resistence he received even when his opponent was already out like a light, the vigilante went with the easiest solution to his current problem: He broke the mercenarie's fingers to release the blade.

That done he went to collect the dropped rifle, and left. He had little use for the weapons themselves, but he rather had them not in the hand of some potential madman anymore. A madman he was going to let live... For now at least. But he would watch.
