Tipping her hat, she smiled at him. "I see you woke up, finally. That's good. You know... I was worried for awhile. It didn't seem like you'd ever wake up, Mr. Hawk." Walking towards him in her cowboy boots, the woman held a large plate of bacon in both hands. "You lost a lot of blood. You're lucky that BLU helped you." Sitting down in the chair near the bed, she placed a hand into her jean coat and pulled out a fork. Moving it near the plate, she began stabbing pieces of artery clogging breakfast meat before bringing it near his face. "Eat."

He hissed through his teeth, keeping them clamped shut as she shoved the fork near him. "You."

"It's time to eat! Look, yum! It's everybody's most favorite food on the planet! Bacon. B-a-c-o-n. Ok? Now time to open up." Refusing to remove the fork from his face, she giggled. "Say ahhhh!"

It was right after those words had escaped him that he realized he was very, very wrong about that. With only two fingers and no way to walk, he was in a state of complete and utter dependence like he'd never been in before. The realization colored his face with a quiet terror as his pride was battered again.
He turned his head from her. The temptation to test out the broken respawn system of Paradise was undeniable.

"Come on, it tastes good. Would I lie to you about the flavor of food? It's the one thing I know best besides fire."

His body couldn't keep up with his irritation- as tension rose in him, his limbs stiffened, pushing an ache through every inch of him. Not dulled enough, either. He closed his eyes, shoving it down, trying to hide it from his face.

Getting up from the chair, she headed over towards to the other side with the bacon. "Now eat, please? OK, just a little?"

"Bloke had a mask and everything," he said. His body ached again, injuries recalling the fight that had caused them. "Wasn't quite like a Spy's. Outfit was off. Snuck up on me like one, though."

Placing a hand over her face, she let out a whimper. "Engie... "

"Ah, Truckie." Though he hadn't seen him in Paradise, she had said he was the same one they'd worked with at Sawmill. He held the honor of being one of the few teammates Sniper could stand for more than a few minutes at a time. And given how many times he'd seen Pyro standing near the dispenser with him, he was willing to bet they'd been close. "I'm, um. Hm."
It rang true with what he always said: attachment was dangerous. It made loss harder to accept, created a beast that couldn't be fought with weapons. "I never saw him here, but he wasn't a bad bloke back at the base."

"Now it's just you, me and Sensei. I wonder if I'll end up here alone again like I have in the past. It seems I'm destined to stay here forever and never experience the beauty of another human being's flesh peeling away from their skin with my flames."

This was different, though. It wasn't just the cheap death granted by the respawn- Engineer was gone without a trace. To have nothing left was all the more painful.
"Er. At least you've still got Medic." Or whatever strange nickname she was calling him. "And you were the one who was sayin' there might be a way to get back. Maybe he's just... you know. Gone back."
Sniper looked to the door, only to remember his leg was in a prop and he had no viable way out of the bed. Even if he could, the chances that she'd just catch up to his plodding pace in a cast were astronomical. He was trapped in the conversation, as well.

"Sniper?" Bringing her hands away from her face, one would find it hard to ignore the tears streaming down her cheeks. "... When you get better, won't you come back to my place? I want to make sure you're safe and nothing like this ever happens to you again." In all honesty, she felt as part of this was her fault. As an offense class, she should of been there to chase Sniper's attacker off. The bushman that rested on the hospital bed before her was not so good in close-up combat; to make up for that she was supposed to watch his back.
"I'm failing as a teammate, I don't want to anymore."
