You know in our eyes it is so easy to do the "right" thing for these kids. And since we have NO control over what, when, or how fast things happen it is frustrating as hell... I try to be patient with the CPS workers I know that they have huge case loads and piles and piles of paperwork.. but it is hard to patient with them sometimes when they just seem to do stupid things and then of course you run into the ones that just don't CARE !! which always makes me wonder WHY they are doing it in the first place.
I have always thought that if they would sit down and talk to the foster parents who take care of these kids then the system would run better. Then again not all foster parents are like us either .. some SCARE ME as much as the social workers...
It is sooooooooo bitter sweet when kids grow up .. my first adoptive daughter is 27 now and is getting married in two weeks !!!!! she lives in another state but I am soooo very proud of what she has become and what she does with her life ... double edge sword that whole parent thing.
Bitter sweet is a good word - it describes how we feel when our kids grow up, but also how I feel about letting the kids go who I never see grow up. There is an ache mixed with my joy, hope mixed with care and concern when they return to birth family.
