My only thought to your heartfelt observations is - it's fantasy as is everything I watch that's fun on Tv, and I pay little attention to the violations of characters in these fantasy stories who knowingly break the law and hurt innocent people in the process. That's the point of fantasy for me - to see the good and true guys, the pretty guys, the intense guys - get the bad guys any way they can and at the end of the day I know that there is NO kind of law enforcement officers like this on this continent at the moment. When there is, I might get a bit perturbed by all this glamourization of vigilantism. But until then I just enjoy the pretty - and enjoy the weaving of the next story and the next ( ... )

I guess that's always been my issue. I've never been able to accept the show for what it is, I always want it to be better. I guess part of my problem is the old 5-0 was so intelligently written and the men really were fairly moral. I don't want to see our 5-0 team become saints or goody-goodies but a bit less pointless violence would make me happy.

I haven't seen all of the other episodes you reference but I was wondering how they are going to prosecute the kidnappers. Any evidence they obtained b/c Danny beat the suspect will be inadmissible.

In some ways I understand why Steve -- a SEAL -- does some of what he does; the Constitution doesn't apply outside of the US. He's fighting a war on terror where there are no rules but Danny ought to know better. He's getting to be too much like Steve in some ways & that's not good.

I suppose they have enough evidence from the house and the child's testimony but yes, anything the guy said to Danny would be inadmissible and I think the judge would rip the 5-0 team apart for what they did.

I can see Steve maybe forced to doing some of these things in enemy countries but he lives and works in the U.S. now and should obey it's laws.

I love BAMF Danny but not cold-blooded Danny. I wonder what Grace would have thought of her father beating the shit out of someone - even a bad guy.

You are absolutely, 100% correct. This was something I wanted to post about, but you've said it so well.

Danny beating the crap out of the kidnapper last night.

This really shocked me. I mean, I'm used to the blatant nonsense that this show puts forward as plot, plus their "tactics" in and out of the "interrogation room." BUT. The kidnapper was just mouthing off a bit and I didn't think it required them to unleash a full beating. With no repercussions but swelling music and a family reunited? What did the lawyers say when they saw the guy???

You're right - no governor is going to give anyone carte blanche to do whatever they want, whatever the results. It's ludicrous. They would have a million lawsuits.

I agree. The nonsense is something that's been there from the beginning but this is getting overly violent and dark for me.

Your answer is what you thought so I welcome it. Didn't expect everyone to agree with me (although they should because I'm always right! Like, always!).

I can take most violence that way too, even some of the beating up, but to murder and to beat a handcuffed man to me is beneath the dignity of the 5-0 team and not the show I started watching in the first year. Back then Steve's methods were crazy but amusing, now his and the teams are disturbing - for me anyway.

Having said all this, I recently wrote a story where Steve planted drugs on a guy to protect Danny so I guess I shouldn't get too high up on my moral horse.

People know how I feel about this subject, but I saw this on your list.

• Steve breaking out of jail instead of trusting his team or the system.

Wo Fat put a hit on Steve and Hesse was able to get a guard to leave and attacked Steve and would have killed him if he had not intended to try to give Steve a way out to kill Wo Fat. He was def not safe in prison.

I think Steve reacted on instinct when he woke up in the ambulance and escaped. I wish he had not beat up everyone who happened to be in his way, because um...yeah. Not cool. But I would not have trust the system, either. lol

You're probably right but Steve was being taken to the hospital. Surely he would have been safer there. Not to mention, it might have been easier to escape from the hospital without hurting anyone. But then again Steve wouldn't be Steve if he did easy.
