I think you've hit it dead on. That is why I stopped watching mid-way through season 2. They tried this with Lori and it didn't work, now Cath is being shoved down our throats. I started watching initially because I'm a huge Scott Caan fan, then it immediately became about the Steve/ Danno partnership. The chemistry between them is epic and its been flushes right down the toilet in lieu of a boring, sappy romance. I have been thoroughly disappointed in this show since he end of S1. I will occasionally watch if I read that there was a good ep featuring the dynamic duo or the original 4. But other that that I have signed off. I still read the fanfic because I love Steve/Danny and would love to write more if my new baby wasn't taking up all of my time lol. Some of the fanfic writers should really apply for a job with the show and turn it around. I can't imagine Scott will stay on for much longer if he doesn't have more to work with then just a cheesy sidekick role. Even my husband says the show has completely gone down hill and he's ( ... )

Here, here!

I'm still watching and feel that I'm hanging on for the McDanno breadcrumbs they've been throwing us. I'll watch it 'till the end, because I'm very loyal to Alex and Scott.

The Steve/Danny chemistry and partnership used to be the hub of the show. I wonder why that changed.

Congrats on your new baby!

I've pretty much given up on the show too. I watch the previews and see if the episode is something I'll tune in for. Next week's I won't.

I guess Michelle Borth and Cath are popular given the number of people who send gushy tweets to her. Maybe we're the only ones that don't like the direction the show is taking. Then again the ratings would dispute that.

Nail on the head.

I've not watched the show since mid S2 - I pay attention and love the fic (although even that seems to be slowing down), but S1 and S3/4 are just entirely different shows.

They really are. It's sad.

I'm afraid you're right. And it's so disappointing, but not as disappointing as it would have been if I were as into this show as I was last year. If only they'd stayed with the formula they started with. It was a fun show in S1, but it's not anymore.

Why sideline their best actor to pursue a romance? This is the second show that I've been really fannish about that has done this. I'm looking at you Stargate SG:1!

I have no problem with romances, but it should never be the main plot in an action show!

I don't have any problem with romances too and I liked Cath. But I don't want the story between her and Steve to take centre stage and it is. The show was founded on the Steve/Danno relationship. Everyone involved with the show said it would fail without that relationship. Why did they change their minds?

I have some thoughts on this based on something Alex said in an interview. I posted it in a new comment :)

This makes me sad because it's true.

It's very sad. I'm finding it personally difficult because H50 gave me the desire to write and now I'm losing that.

Yeah I stopped watching last season when they brought Mom back from the dead. Jumped the shark for me.
So sad the show in S1 was awesome and even with Lori was pretty good in S2. Oh well another good show down the tubes because of a hetro-normative freak out by the PTB.
