Tonight, I went to Virgin Megastore and bought some CDs.

Among them was the Radio 1 compilation Established 1967, which features covers of a track per year for each of the past 40 years. The songs are performed by 'today's greatest artists', which means there's a lot of Pigeon Detectives and the Twang and that sort of thing littering the scene. ( Read more... )

It's a little confusing cos I was under the impression that the amazing 'In Your Arms' was a Cal Harris jam, but it turns out to have been produced by some fellow called Richard Stannard (Harris did something else, apparently). NYT on the spin-off: “Torchwood” is a world I wouldn’t mind seeing erased.

Yesterday, I noticed something at the Tate Modern that I've somehow overlooked in the past, Tate Tracks. It's both cool and naff at once, but that's all right: at least they're trying.
