My dad sent me an e-mail about part time work at Rexall Place (our...I dunno, coliseum thing). It sounds like it'd be security stuff, like watching doors and escorting people out. They're looking for people to help during special events (hockey, concerts, K-Days, whatnot). They pay $9.50 an hour ( Read more... )

That would be awesome. >:D I phoned the lady the e-mail said to contact and she also said there's "client services" positions available...she said I should go down to Rexall and talk to this other HR woman and find out exact details, so maybe I'll take my brother with me to do that tonight. Should I still do it if it's not security?

or the one that involves less work for the most pay.

I was thinking the EXACT same thing. XD /swoow I think security would be cool if I get to wear a uniform and get some sort of baton for beating stupid randoms. >:MM Again, need more info.

Ok, I have a couple questions for you since I know you had two jobs and it's easier just to type them here than to text them. :P

How many hours a week did you typically work at each job? Was it stressful having two? Did you have enough time to relax, or were you always working? Was it worth getting the extra money from the second job, or would you rather just stick with the one and work full time? Were you tired all the time? Did your social life suffer? I'll probably think of other random crap to ask you later!

It was horrible at first, because I was working 3:30-11:30 at one job 5 days a week (so full-time, I guess), and then 9-2 mornings at the other job (so 25 hours a week). I had no social life and was always tired, but that was only for like two weeks. I changed it so I only worked superstore on weekends and convergys weekdays. I switched convergys to something like 32 hours and superstore was like 12 hours, so that was managable. I never had a day off though, which sucked.. but I did get paid every week, which was nice. It was too stressful though, I think. I did end up quitting superstore because I didn't have time. The only thing I miss is getting paid every week.

I agree - - go for it! Don't pass on client services. It might offer some business experience that you might enjoy. The important thing is to work the hours around your other job! Good luck and let us know hat you find out!

Ooh, business experience would definitely be good. I'm sure it would be helpful to me, probably moreso than security experience would be. I'm pretty weak physically too, so unless I start working out and get in shape and get stronger, I don't see security being a real career thing. But as a side job it'd be ok. Anyway, thanks! I'll be sure to let everyone know if I decide to go for it or not.

I work right now at a job just like that. It is the easiest job I've ever had. I LOVE it!
Last summer I worked this security job and another one at a convenient store, and it was very manageable. Not too hard to do. They were both part time.
