Day 4: On the Ohio Valley Line (9/11)
Unusual for a last day of the trip, it was event-filled.
First off was breakfast in the Camp Washington neighborhood, at Camp Washington Chili, under the watchful muraled eye of a queened-up George Washington. (Quite camp, Washington.)

Day 3: On the Ohio Valley Line (9/10)
CINCINNATI - It’s concert night, but once again with little to do, we had breakfast at Wild Eggs at the recommendation of my friend (and former Lexington resident) Alissa.
The slow road to Cincinnati took us to a river ferry and a fittingly quick visit to the William Henry Harrison Memorial before landing on the UC campus ( Read more... ) -
Day 2: On the Ohio Valley Line (9/9)
LEXINGTON - Keeping to our theme of stretching things, we had breakfast in the hotel before leaving at about 10.
Creeping south on state roads and into Kentucky, we ended up stopping what turned out to be a picnic lunch at Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park, claimed as the site of the final battle of the Revolutionary War in August 1782 - ( Read more... ) -

Day 6: Down in Dixie (7/26)
Coming home is always the hardest day to write, because there is seldom anything interesting that occurs on the way.
Granted, Chad ate at another favorite breakfast franchise (Biscuitville), but besides that, we stopped for gas in Greensboro and headed safely home. -
Day 5: Down in Dixie (7/25)
FAYETTEVILLE NC - Perhaps a fitting time to calm the nerves, my attending church on this trip was Trinity on the Hill UMC. I especially enjoyed the appropriately minor-key instrumental arrangement of “The Old Rugged Cross” from the pianist ( Read more... ) -

AUGUSTA GA - We spent the morning downtown, scoping out such sights as the Jimy Carter Presidential Library and Museum, the John Lewis Mural, and the Ebenezer Baptist Church before landing at our pre-paid parking garage spot for the day ( Read more... ) -

LAWRENCEVILLE GA - After a quick glance of the Olympics’ opening ceremony on TV, we headed for brunch across town at the Another Broken Egg Café. Can’t complain about the omelets here ( Read more... ) -

MADISON AL - Misty, who I mentioned yesterday, resides in the neighboring town Morristown. In preparing for the trip, I checked to see if she wanted to drag the kids somewhere to meet up for lunch.
