Clean Tools Poll

What are your favorite cleaning tools and why?

I just borrowed my friend's Shark Steam Mop and I think I love it.  Actually, I did really like it, but I have an old floor that will never get clean and I have smallish area so I'm not sure if this is the biggest bang for my buck.  Is there something more versitle?

I think the steam mop was worth it before we had laminate floors throughout b/c I didn't have to fool with a mop/bucket. It's indispensible to me now!

I quite like (but dont absolutely love) my Bissel Flip It. I rarely use it for dry vac (I prefer my swivel sweeper for that) but it makes quick work of mopping the floors and does a pretty good job. I actually mop more or less weekly now when before... well, we won't talk about that. haha ( ... )

I hate all my cleaning tools. It's possible that's just because I hate housework, but just as likely that nothing I have does the job as well as I'd like. I have an Omop that I like for its compostable dusting sheets and reusable mops, but I'm on my second one as my husband broke the handle on the first one very soon after I bought it. I also dislike it,and the Swiffer, as well, because there's always more on the floors than it can pick up. Perhaps that wouldn't be the case if I Swiffered every day, but that's just not going to happen! I have the Hoover Floormate wet/dry vac. It's big, the dry pickup isn't that good and it feels like a huge project every time I use it - first dry vac, then wet mop, then wet pickup/dry. Plus the "recommended cleaning fluids are expensive and not at all green. The vacuum for my area rugs needs to be replaced and I'd like a Dyson or something with some really good filtering system, but they're all so expensive and I'd much rather spend my $$ on shoes ;)

Well, first I have to admit that I've not heard of either of these things, but believe I need both now. LOL.

Especially the steam mop. Is it complicated at all? Did your floor get cleaner than mopping?

I like the idea of a vacuum the girls could use in the other tool. Not sure I trust them with my Dyson. They might suck up the cord or something. Let me know what you think if you try that one out too :)

Sorry I'm of no help, but I'm happy to gleen from your experience if you share.

It is ridiculously easy. You velcro these washable pads to the bottom of the mop, add water, plug it in, wait 30 seconds and you are ready to go. When you are done, you just empty the water and wash the pads.

I do think the floor got cleaner. It pulled up a lot of gunk that my wet swiffer did not touch and it also did not leave behind that tacky film that the swiffer tends to leave. I really did like it. The floor doesn't have a shine to it, but my floor is 27 years old.

I do have the swivel sweep and its also easy and my kids love to use it too. But I've only had it for about 3 months and it seems to have lost a lot of power. I can't use it on carpet anymore but it very much serves it function of decrumbing :-)

I don't have this steam mop, but one similar, and I LOVE it. It was a hand-me-down from my mom, and the cord had gotten a little loose. It finally gave out while I was pg, and I HATED not having it...my floors rarely got really cleaned because I didn't have something as easy anymore. But J kept saying he could fix it, blah blah blah...never did. Finally, MONTHS later, he fixed it, and I could not have been happier! I've actually mopped my floors regularly since it was fixed. For me, it's totally worth it!

I've been looking for someone with real life experience with the steam mop. I've been watching the infomercial constantly, salivating over the thought of clean! dry! sanitized! floors.
