Wow! I actually got home late that night and had to leave early for vacation the next morning. I tried watching it, and did get most of it but dozed during a couple of scenes. I think I need to re-watch it when I get back home.
But yeah, wow. I had a moment when Jack was on the airplane where I thought it might be after the island, then I dismissed it. That was pretty cool and changes where I thought the series was capable of going. I love it. It re-defines the stakes in a very cool way.
And didn't Jack make reference to his father as though he were alive twice? What's with that?
I felt almost immediately that Jack's "flashbacks" were in the future. One of the reasons that I talked myself out of it was that he kept mentioning his father as if he were alive. However, even after those instances, I felt like something was out of place--Jack had never been that messed up, and I felt like he was such a wreck that there was no way he'd be as poised as he was on the island. No matter what rehab or whatever...I just didn't think it made sense. Plus, near the end, there was a scene in his apartment, where he had maps all over the place. My first thought was that he was looking for the island, but I really wasn't sure that it was a flashforward, largely because the show has never done that before
