My Wife
I don't give my wife enough credit -- she is a remarkably strong woman. Aside from all the stuff she does for us around the house, she's always pushing herself to be something better. This has become even clearer to me with her pregnancy. Here's just a little snippet to illustrate my point.

Dead
The dog just ran through an area he wasn't supposed to be in and inadvertently bricked one of our drives. Luckily it was one of the backups and Costco has traditionally been willing to take these back in exchange when this happens, regardless of when they were purchased.
Guess I'll be getting a new one at Costco tonight. -
A Decade
Ten years ago today, I woke up for the first time as a missionary. I was still getting used to being called "Elder."
What a strange trip it's been since then. -
Yelp can suck it...
I've seen too many biased reviews on Yelp! to take it seriously anymore. A perfect example is the local photographer who was given a 5 star review -- by her husband. I'm sorry, but if you've got a system where crap like that slips through, there's a big problem.
It had such potential, too. -

It's past 1 am and I'm not wearing any pants. I'm wearing underwear, but no pants.

Buttermilk Chive Dressing
- 1/4 medium onion, diced fine
- Juice of one lemon (~1/4 c)
- 3-4 cloves garlic, diced or pressed
- 1/4 c chopped parsley
- 4 sprigs fresh thyme
- 1/8 c cream
- 1/2 c mayonnaise
- 1/4 c olive oil
- 1/4 c buttermilk
- 2 TBSP diced chives
- Salt & Pepper -

Happy Birthday to Me!
Well, dinner on Saturday took a lot of work, but it came off pretty well. I definitely should have played with a couple of the recipes before hand (the fennel salad and the scallops in particular), but things worked out ok. Here are two of the recipes that worked great.

Planning my Route
With my birthday coming up, I've gotten a slew of free birthday offers from various establishments. I'm sorta planning out the next two weeks in food right now. Should save us a good chunk of cash on groceries, but I have a feeling I'm going to end up eating a lot of burgers ( Read more... )
