I am glad the bulk substance of my life does not depend on or employ in gross quantity shopping, shoplifting, getting dressed, slathering my face in make-up, going out to end up in a living room with substances and empty people, taking pictures of myself, taking pictures with aforementioned empty people, editing said pictures, posting said pictures ( Read more... )

I haven't spoken to you in literally almost forever but when I read this I was reminded of Pensacola. I've been to a lot of the co-op's here in Memphis, and everytime I go, there are always more than a few fashionable hippy dippy indie kids intentionally making me feel awkward because I'm not quite so fashion forwards, and let's face it, over the years I've become a lot less outgoing in social situations; there for making me feel miserable and out of place, and helping some of the kids here grow their ego's just a little bit bigger ( ... )

I'd like to think DeCleyre is the kind of environment that accepts anyone who needs a hand. They're a housing co-op though, so it's quite different. You've got to take into account that Rozelle is not by any means looking to take in all of Memphis for the night. We're aiming to be a business that provides a service for cheap, maybe free in some cases, but not house anyone. We won't have anyone living there. Not only that, we're catering to a specific crowd: artists. In any case, I apologize that you didn't feel more welcome at Rozelle, but at this point the only reason there are people at the warehouse is during a fundraising show, so god knows who shows up to those. Especially if the time you went was the rave, because 90% of the crowd were strangers ( ... )
