WE GET IT!
A Wincester (tries) to set the record straight | VERY unformal essay, just me rambling

ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN, SO IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, TOO BAD.

( People getting upset about Wincest (again) and I'm here to rebuttle )

What I think most people realize is that, while not canon, Wincest is not outside the realm of possibilities. Let's face it, sometimes, when you have a pair of siblings who, by necessity, spend a lot of time w/ each other, and don't have a chance to socialize much w/ other kids, the likelihood of them exploring each other when they hit those horny teenage years is greatly increased. Granted, it occurs more in siblings who are closer in age, but still it's not a complete impossility. Of course, this is usually limited to fondling each other, not out and out buttsecks (unlike in Supernatural ;D).

I, personally, am not a big Wincest fan, but whenever I do it, it could be deemed as more wrong, because I - write TORTURE fic, ferchrissakes!

I have no problem with Wincest or slash - I WRITE slash - some people just need to get their heads outta their asses and deal! Just cause you don't like it personally, doesn't mean it will stop! Don't read it, don't watch it, dont' buy it then! Scroll past it fercryinoutloud!

Man, some people are so selfish and memememe - and it's only gotten worse.. You make you own morality, your make your own REALITY - and that's all there is to it... I don't mind Wincest on occasion - do I wanna jump my sister/mother/father's bones, HELL NO! It just means that the chemistry, when applied in a fantasy setting, and written WELL appeals to me!

EXACTLY. The same with slashers - many people say, since women write most slash, it just goes to show how much we want to be gay men. What about guys writing femslash? Is it guys secretly wanting to be lesbians?

I have to agree. My thing is that what gives you the right to tell me what i can and cant read or write. Because it squicks someone it has to be banished and well you know what... I am going to hell on my own ticket that no one bought for me so get off my ass about it. I tell people you dont have to look or read and subject yourself to anything you dont want to be apart of so dont fuck it up for those who want to be apart of it. Anyone who takes fanfic seriously... like that seriously needs help. Take it seriously to the effect that you want to write something entertaining and true to what that fandom has become but when you start to live and die and hold the canon to it ... Dr Phil needs to step in and smack you upside the head. Other peoples children I swear LOL

That is so freaking true. I've seen many gen people get upset that Wincest is on comms like supernaturalfic, but the thing is that we mark it as Sam/Dean, so it's THEIR fault for clicking on the link. We shouldn't be blamed for what we enjoy (as a hobby).

I mean come on a help line for them .... lord... where was my help line when Daddy Winchester died.... or when Dean beat up Metallicar... we didnt get a help line.... we didnt get shit.... I mean not that we need it we are Winchesters but still damn LOL .....LMFAO Yah lets leak this to Dr Phil so he smackdown the fuckers. I am not one to read anything gen... its just not me but I dont sit here and go bashing it and telling people they are sick and going to hell for reading it. Again narrowminded people suck and this why hell will be so damn fun...

Wow, this is a great post. I can agree with everything you said and I'm equally sick and fascinated by this discussion. The assumption that wincesters secretly want to have incestuous sex is ridiculous. So is the argument that wincest is wrong-period ( ... )

It's not that wincest is the new Shakespeare and is required to be read during millions of English classes.

Though it'd be nice! XD Yes, they can easily avert their eyes - awhile ago, the genners argument is that Wincest was flooding into gen comms like supernaturalfic or sn_fic and saying that it shouldn't be allowed on there. We clearly mark our stories as Wincest (cause, yes, we aware people out there don't like it and we don't wanna shove it down your throats) and if you took the time to read the warnings, then you'd know that you shouldn't click on those links.

I've seen slashers in the past (my old fandom before SPN) that just picked two people to slash them for the sake of it.

That's what people think we're doing! Like, it wouldn't be so popular if they DIDN'T work. It just happens they are unbelievably gorgeous and have great chemistry.

Because that's what it is and insulting people just because you have no valid arguments is weak.

I hate that. Then people pair it with bad grammar and then I want to throttle them.

Excellent essay, and I agree completely! The arguments I heard somewhere were that we only write Wincest in order to get attention! We don't really want to write it or read it! There are just crazies out there who want to read it, so we only write it to please THEM! Um, no. Not at all. It's for US. Why would anyone write anything in hobbyfic that they themselves didn't enjoy? Maybe they were trying to say "oh, YOU are like me, and couldn't possibly like it yourself, because you are sensible and moral LIKE ME." Um, we're not LIKE you, asshold. (I am not the world's best arguer. I always descend into naughty language. Oops.)

*giggles* Oh, you people. Yes, I write two brothers have amazing buttsex so I can get all the great attention I have.

People can't accept that this stuff goes on and they are narrow-minded to a point of bias, where they think everyone is like them and they make theories and assumptions just so they don't have to realize that yes, we do write Wincest for ourselves!
