American! Spaced clips.

Not sure if this had been posted before, but I stumbled upon it while perusing the Spaced page on TvTropes.

It's part of the pilot they put together for the American version of Spaced (which, thankfully, didnt go through). I'm guessing the guy who put it up was playing the Brian character (who isn't named Brian).

Man I'm so glad they didn't do

I almost wouldn't mind as much if the actors weren't trying to be Simon Pegg, Jessican Hynes, et al.

Haha they're Bill and Ben.

I love some of the actors in that but I'm so glad it wasn't made, it pretty much lost the soul of the original.

I saw this a few months ago, it's pretty dire.
I quite liked the bit where Benji went "no that's the safety!"
But yeah, just trying too hard and Spaced is OUR thing, the UK wouldn't remake Arrested Development!

The Office was you guys' thing, too, and we remade that. :P

But yeah, I agree. American writers really, really need to work on their own ideas instead of taking ones that I have been sucessful elsewhere. While it may work for some shows (Ugly Betty, The Office (I don't like the American version, but it's very popular), etc), Americanizing something really kind of takes away from the original vision.

Wow, that was pretty....yeah. I would have had to move to a different country if that had actually been made. I like Sarah Rue and Will Sasso is okay but...something was missing. I think it was the accents, Americans can't do the rapid fire quite as well because our accents are slower sounding.

Yeah, I agree with the accents and also the passion and chemistry. The original cast/director had all worked together and known each other for years beforehand, and the series was so personal to them that it really showed in their performances. This is just...flat. There's nothing there behind it.

Oh god. I love Sara Rue but even I couldn't be forced to watch this dreck.
