I agree completely. Your existential views on the absurdity of life hearkens of nihilism, but the more scholarly reader would recognize your allusions to the great philosophers Camus, Dostoevsky and Neitzche. These allusions show that your views are something of an optimism through pessimism approach to life. Embracing Absurdity, if you will.
i have indeed I have to note that although Mr. Conrad does bring up similar themes to those you briefly touched upon here, one would more easily draw parallels to the eminent Albert Camus and his brief novel titled The Stranger. The main character's plight is very similar to the one we see every one of us.
For less esoteric reading material, i would suggest Horton Hears a Who.
