I’m feeling a lot of doubt, in myself as a person, as an actor, as a woman/girl/female (it doesn’t feel right referring to myself as a woman but that’s an issue I’ll have to leave for another day

your life is not defined by your job!!!!! YOU are not defined by your job :) what you get from it defines you...so what do you want to add to yourself?
I have to say seeing as I'm stepping off the plank right now and diving straight into the acting world I'm having similar freak outs. So I've been thinking of back ups etc.
My director suffered from severe depression and stopped acting for years and years. To get back into it she combined her knowledge of getting out of depression with acting and is now a drama therapist. You could look into that....just think like, what can you moosh together? Your experience and skills in acting are clearly going to be a big part of your job but you don't have to be an 'actor'. you can 'act' as well as --- and ---
I seriously fit all the requirements for that job...if only there was such a profession!
I am jealous you are an actor and wish I had the confidence to continue dancing. I love everything to do with the arts and think that my love for it is why I struggle to settle for anything else to do with my life.
I just turned 27 so I could have written this entry myself...however I work in admin (ugh!) and the only redeeming quality of the job is that it pays well. I do have plans to move to Melbourne next year and want to study, just not sure what yet!
I think the cure for acne has already been found - or at least for me it has (acne.org)
Teaching is actually kind of rewarding. There's nothing wrong with cheap wine and sleeping pills either ;)
Working with High School kids who are right in the midst of puberty helps me realise how far I have come since those angst filled days (because sometimes I still feel about 14). You know what they say: Those who can't do teach... And those that can't teach teach PE. Being a senior school drama teacher is possibly a valid option for you.
i've been in a similar situation, which is why i stopped acting for a while to dedicate myself and study in other areas of art and find where do i really go with acting when i go back to it, cause i've done it my whole life, but i still don't know exactly why. i really understand your point and i have no idea what i'll end up doing either, it's not a random decision. whatever you end up doing, enjoy it, and grow from there, don't do it only to get paid well, as if a job was only about that.
also, this is giraflor, this is a new journal and i'm adding you :)
