There is something we are missing when we don't call, not to convey emotion in text. Though I like to talk on the phone, my voice is, as you can say, better suited for silent films. I prefer video chat whenever possible, that way you can see how the other person is feeling and how well they are doing rather than try to decipher through voice alone. I have been try to resurrect letter writing, it is still not as personal as phone calls, but it feels like more of a connection, like you are physically holding something the other person held. If you ever want to talk or exchange letters, let me know.
see, and i think letter writing is more personal than a phonecall. maybe because it takes more effort? last spring, i mailed about a dozen letters (more like short stationary cards), using some super fancy handmade italian paper and one of those wax seals for the back of the envelope. only TWO people contacted me to say thanks. and it was through text. bah!
