Spring has sprung!

I finally finished this book I've been lugging around since January: Under the Volcano by one Malcolm Lowry. It's about a drunk and at least thirty percent of it consists of confusing ramblings of an intellectual gone horribly wrong. I seem to enjoy buying books more than reading books and accordingly I've amassed a huge collection of unread ( Read more... )

Send me the results! I like things that are both gross and interesting (like you)!

I had a friend that used to quote/read Margaret Atwood all the time! Now she lives in the Chicago area!

I am much much worse when it comes to reading books (although I likely buy a lot fewer, too). I have two books sitting on top of my VCR right now. I have had them both for about three years. I have not read a single page of either yet (although I have read the back cover of one.) It is my New Years resolution to actually read them this year. (I also haven't written out my New Years resolutions yet, but I'm going to soon. I guess reading and writing are not my strong suits.)

I just ordered a $400 gift card for Targét using my credit card points! I'm going to get myself a new free iPod! And maybe a DVD player, too!

fin.

I've sort of started reading again. I'm reading Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant right now. Have you read Anne Tyler? I didn't love the plot of Accidental Tourist, but the writing was just so good that I couldn't put it down. She's like Nabokov in that way.

I haven't heard of Anne Tyler. In fact, I haven't heard of most contemporary writers, but if she's like Nabokov, I'll definitely give her a go. I read a book a while ago called "Bel Canto" by a writer named Anne Patchett, which was pretty bad and has made me prejudiced against Anne writers. I'll try the Accidental Tourist and give Annes another chance.

Definitely not as good as Nabokov (but who is?) but well worth giving Annes another shot for her!
