So since the fateful incident on Thursday I have been on the phone all day, I ate a spoonful of peanut butter and two plain tortilla rolls, and slept zero hours. A man bought me a Mountain Dew and another man let me into the subway for free. I had to convince the bank lady through cuteness alone that I was who I said I was.

I want to die. I left my wallet in the taxi cab. It had: my passport, my driver's liscence, 50 dollars, my check book, my northwestern ID card with money on it, my public transportation card with money on it, my German national ID. So Danielle has the job and started looking for apartments. Where should she find one but in the SAME building as I! Isn't that awesome? Now we'll live next door and have our own apartments which is almost cooler because we can seduce men in our own apartments but still cook together and wear each other's clothes.

So a few things have been settled since I last updated. I decided on a lab rotation. I will be working in Chicago with a guy who does synaptic plasticity and its effect on motor learning and uses viral vectors as gene therapy to treat Parkinson's related cellular abnormalities. This is the third day in a row I've had to visit the ear doctor. Since I can only hear out of one ear have to ask people to repeat things all the time, it's really embarrassing. Okay, we're not mad anymore. I feel so much better. Actually I feel bad about how I judged the situation. I wish weren't always so on guard and that I didn't always assume the worst. Trust issues.

My ear is very very infected. They put some weird gauze in it and now I'm all dizzy, deaf, and in pain, but I'm on strong pain medication.

I'm going to tell you a little story about my uncle. He has some friends in their 60's who have a 30-year old son who always hangs around them. On his 50th birthday he invited them to his party but stipulated: "don't bring the colgante" (colgante in spanish means "pendant" which means as much as sidekick).
