 First off, and most importantly: It appears that my residency situation has been fixed!  A number of residents made a lot of noise, notified the local press, had many meetings with state legislators and other officials and that made all the difference.  I can almost certainly finish my residency program here.  This is a huge relief!

Firstly, congratulations on the residency resolution. I have tried to imagine how tough it has been on you and Paul and Emily, but honestly I have only been able to shudder in sympathy. At least now you can finish and move on with life. :)

Secondly, I hear you with respect to the award. I'd feel the same way in your situation.
